The Secret Garden

It the start of a new challenge theme today over at

'Childhood'
There are lots of ways to interpret this topic, Going to school. Nursery Rhymes, Fairy Stories etc. etc
Please pop over to see what my DT friends have been making.
I always loved reading books and so did my family when they were children, so I have chosen a book for my inspiration.
The Secret Garden by Francis Hodgson Burnett.

The pages in this journal are a shade of cream so I decided to only add some flower stencils for my background.
The cut outs are  from G45 papers and some TH found relatives.
The flowers  are pieces of torn napkins.
I created the labels in the computer.

Its a busy, but happy  month for me,  as a cuppa is nearly always beside me on my desk,  I  remembered  just in time  to get the camera  and take    a photo of my favourite brew so I could call in at

to wish every one  a Happy T day.
We are always made very welcome there with a drink related post.

Some of you will know already that I am also Hosting the theme this month at
.....A World of Fantasy.
I think this  spread also fits the theme.... as there is nothing [for me] that can compare with getting comfortable in a armchair,   a  good book, a cuppa close by.  Where you could maybe imagine  the scene and see it in your mind,  as you read the book.

Wishing you all a happy day and thank you for calling in to see me today.

  1. Beautiful journal page, and The Secret Garden is a theme always worth seeing again. Your cuppa looks good, it's always nice to have a drink while crafting, although sometimes I have mixed up my paint water and my drink....Happy T Day, hugs, Valerie

  2. I love your secret garden spread Yvonne and I love to see your journal in progress laying there beside of your lovely cup. I really think that our art journaling time is the same as meditation for others. We are in a special world and we are in a land of fantasy! It is a blessing to have such a wonderful hobby, isn't it?!
Happy T-Day and happy Art Journal Journey and happy Try It On Tuesday!

  5. A lovely Secret Garden spread, love how you've layered the page with images and napkins. It's always nice to have a cuppa while crafting, but I usually keep mine well away from the craft area - just in case!

  7. Hi Yvonne! Back in blogland after the mammoth month so am playing catch up a little and hope you will forgive me for not commenting on everything you have done whilst I have been absent!
Another great page filled with lush details - about time I sat down and sorted through the mountain of napkins I have acquired over the years - maybe now I can find the time! x

  12. What a fabulous page and you are right - you can get right into a book and use your imagination (which sometimes is nothing like what you imagine when they turn books into films!) I am still not brave enough to have a cup of coffee close by when I am crafting!! Happy T day! Chrisx

  13. Reading books may not be a fantasy, but where they they take us CAN be. This is a beautiful entry for your theme because it conjures up images of the secret garden we all wish we owned. Thanks so much for this pure beauty and great example of fantasy. It's so lovely and great to know you shared it with us at Art Journal Journey, too.

I also love the way you showed how you laid the entry out while sipping your tea. And of course, I bet that adorable bunny on the mug wishes it could be hiding in that secret garden, too. Thanks for sharing it with us at T this Tuesday.

  17. What a beautiful art journal spread,Yvonne. That G45 paper is so precious. I don't have that paper collection but I have a tendency to hoard G45 instead of using it. They have such beautiful images. Your layering is perfect on this layout.
    Happy Tea Day,
    Kate

  23. I'm late making the tea party rounds. I did want to let you know I stopped by though. I enjoyed looking back at some of your posts that I missed. The fantasy pieces are delightful. This page (and the cup) are so different but so nice as well.

  24. What a lovely theme: Childhood. You can do a lot with that. And you have! I love the reference to the Secret Garden. I read it too as a child (who hasn't?) and loved it.
I love your mug with the rabbit. And it is nice to see your page in the making. It is beautiful with all those flowers.
Sorry I am late in commenting. (Better late than never), but we are rather busy packing and getting everything ready for our road trip.
    Belated Happy T-Day,
