Gone Fishin'

When I saw the title of the  new challenge theme at Crafty Cardmakers - 'Cute and Furry', I had a bit of a panic attack. I don't realy do 'cute', so I hope the girls will forgive me for reaching out for a craft CD.
This is Popcorn the Bear from Crafters Companion.
I printed out the image and a super matching background paper.
A piece of blue cardstock for layering, I used a punch on the corners.
I added the thread rope with a fish charm on the end, so he was quite a lucky bear to make such a good catch. Extra shading round the edges was Broken China distress ink.
We have two sponsors with super prizes on offer,  The Stamp Man and Di's Digistamps, please pop over for all the details and see what we have been making.

Thank you for stopping by to take a look, I do always appreciate your comments.

You don't Scare Me.

Sharing  a couple of Halloween  tags with you today. but first of all an apology for not getting to visit everyone recently. We are in caravanland yet again, enjoying  some lovely weather for the time of year, so lots of outings with Meg.
The first tag has a random stamped background and a scrap piece from an old box as  base layers.
I had a try fussy cutting the skeleton, but the bones on the hands defeated me.
The pumpkin and cat are scrap pieces I had tucked in a box from last year.
The stamps came from the Stampers Anonymous 'Almost Haunted  set'.
Shading is Vintage Photo and Spiced Marmalade distress ink.
I tried to imitate some soil on the bottom of both tags using Vintage Photo distress glitter,

Absolutely legless

This second again has a random stamped background, all the stamps used for the tag are from Stampers anonymous and Graphics 45. This time  I used Vintage Photo and Broken China distress inks.

Going Dotty

Isn't that a great title for our new challenge theme over at Try it on Tuesdays. 'Going Dotty'.
I have kept this card quite plain and tried hard not to be tempted to add extras.
So basically its one layer with trimmings. I used Embossalicious folders for the dots and the roses. These new larger sizes are so easy to use. The sentiment is a Whimsey stamp layered up with Spellbinders  die cuts.
As in most of my cards the shading is Vintage Photo distress ink.

I do hope you will pop over to TioT's and get all the details.
We do hope you will join us by' going dotty', as well.

Thank you for stopping by, I always appreciate your comments.

Colours of Autumn

Today I am sharing with you another Autumn project. This is my take on the new Challenge at
Fashionable Stamping Challenges, which is 'Autumnal Colours'.  We are a stamping challenge blog, stamps do feature on this hanging but for me  the colours just seemed to take over this piece. So apologies to my DT sisters. I do hope you will pop over for all the details and see what we have all been making.

On the left are the base layer papers, painted with acrylics, you can see the stamped poppies and script..
I then used  distress inks, Spiced marmalade, Vintage Photo and Bundled sage, to build up the colours, to the shades  you can see above.
The  words on the small hanging  are  from a Stampers Anonymous set, stamped with Brown Staz-on.
All other items are from my stash.

Thank you for stopping by to take a look, I always appreciate the comments you leave.

Autumn

'Fall is in the Air', or as we would probably be saying here in the U.K. Autumn has arrived. This is the new challenge theme over at Sugar Creek Hollow.
Please pop over for all the details and see what we have all been making.

Autumn for me is using some of my favorite colours. Browns, beige, cream,  a touch of orange deep red and faded green.
The colouring on this hanging is a mixture of watercolours and distress inks.
The stamped image of the birds is from Inkylicious.
The photo on the right was taken before I added the shading.
One of the layers is a piece of red material.
All the leaves are die cuts. I  used twigs from the garden to hang it by.

Thank you for taking time to stop by, I do always appreciate the comments you leave.

Winged things.

'Winged Things', is the new challenge over at Crafty Cardmakers.
I have had this topper on my desk for quite a while. As I never like to discard anything, especially if it has been cut from a Graphics 45 page. I just had to use this handsome rooster  as my 'winged thing.

I used a kraft card base together with more G45 papers from the French Country stack  for layering.
Extra shading is Vintage photo and Walnut stains,  distress inks.

Please pop over for all the details and read about our two generous sponsors, -
 Crafts and Me,
Woodware.

Go Wild

This is one of those cards that just evolved and I had to stop myself from wanting to add more.
It all began with the Crafty Individuals stamp, stamped up  with brown ink,  shaded with antique linen distress ink, then edged with some Vintage Photo distress glitter.
So back to the base, The card was dry embossed using the dotty Embossalicious folder.
Then a piece of  printed Kraft card.
The tree bark layer was also made using an embossing folder, I rubbed the ink pad  [walnut stain]over the surface to highlight the knots in the bark.
The piece of  corrogated card is from  an old box and added a bit more texture.
The  colours and shading  were all distress inks, Walnut Stain. Vintage Photo and Tea Dye.

Challenges that I think this will fit are-
Crafts Too Challenge You  Challenge 3 week 1.  Texture with a Twist. Choose your own style.
I will try most styles but I realy love the vintage/aged , grungy look and nothing pleases me more than to use these shades of distress inks.
Simon Says Stamp The Monday challenge over here is Embossed.

Thank you for stopping by to take a look, I do always appreciate your comments.

Just for you

'Hand Made Flowers',  is the theme for the new Challenge over at Try it on Tuesdays.
Please pop over for all the details and see the flowers we made.
So I will begin with the flower-

The base is a plain card die cut flower.
Out came my flower making loom next and some waxed twine. The loops stay  rigid and don't flop and are easier to hold the shape.
The center of the flower is die cut using an Alterations Tattered florals die.. The layers are fixed together with a brad, then the whole piece soaked in water and scrunched together. Let it dry and tease into the
shape you want.

The card is layered up with papers from my stash. Two layers were dry embossed using Embossalicious folders Music and Rose Garden. The image is a topper  from  Pion Designs.

Thank you for stopping by to take a look, I always appreciate your comments.

Can U Resist.

'Can U Resist', well I couldn't. This is the theme of the new challenge over at
Fashionable Stamping Challenges. What an excuse to revisit  techniques I haven't used in ages.

We are sponsored by Flonzcraft who is offering a generous prize for our challenge winner. Please pop over for all the details and see what my design team sisters have been making.

So what did I do-
First of all the stamps I used are  from Stampers Anonymous and are Wendy Vecchi's.
Also my old french script stamp.
I will begin  with the card blank, there is a little strip piece showing on the left..
This was random stamped with Veramark and dusted with Pans Pastels.

The next layer features a Dauber resist technique found in Tim Holtz's book  A Compendium of Curiosities.
Briefly you use a dauber to ink up the stamp, then let the images dry.
I used Pool and a Pearl dauber.
Shade the whole thing with distress inks.
Spiced Marigold, Shabby Shutter and Vintage Photo.
Dry again
Mist a piece of kitchen roll , then rub over the  surface to show up the images.

Top Layer, a stamped and embossed flower using Dried marigold ink.
The butterfly was also embossed a couple of times and has a glossy look to it.
Thank you for taking time to read through this post.
I do appreciate you stopping by and the comments you kindly leave for me.

I will be entering the challenge at-
Vintage Stamping which is Anything from Your Garden

My Rose Garden SCH

'My Rose Garden', is the new challenge theme  over at Sugar Creek Hollow.
The D.T. were sent some beautiful images from our sponsor   Heather Hudson to use this time.
Mine were  these super rose tags, which I layered up on foam pads.
The backing papers to compliment  [I hope] the tags came from my stash.  As did the trimmings, I need no prompting to add lace, flowers etc to my cards.
Extra shading was Victorian Velvet distress ink.
Please pop over for all the details and see what we have all been making.

Thank you for stopping by to take a look, your comments are always appreciated.

Trick or Treat

Looking around blogland, I am seeing many folk making inspirational Halloween projects.
So here goes with my first efforts of the season.
The stamped image is  the Steampunk Owl  from Stampendous, I did think he was just the right bird for this tag. This was painted with water colours and distress markers.
Corrogated  stripped and torn  paper from an old box, is the base painted,  with acrylics to match the next layer, which is a gelli plate creation.
I do experiment in batches so it would be hard to list the paints, masks etc.
I had a little piece of mesh netting to use for the tie and  bottom corner.

Its the second   Challenge  at   Tag Along  and  the theme is 'Birds'.
So he's flying off there to join the fun, as well as,
Addicted to Stamps and More whose current challenge is Anything goes.

Thank you for stopping by, your comments are always appreciated.

Inventor

Another tag to show you today. I must admit I am enjoying making these at the moment.
The base layer  is random stamped using  a variety of stamps.
Tucked in, next came the die cut Pocket Watch.
I used gilding wax to shade this piece as well as the key.
A dry embossed  layer on mirri card, that I sandpapered to age it.
There is a small piece of Kraft paper up the side, hard to see, but I was in a waste not want not mood by then.
Mr Inventor Man is an image from the Loverly London set from  Artistic outpost.
I also used some new Distress glitter at the top and bottom Vintage photo, as is the inks I used to colour the tag.
 Challenges-
Its Raining Men  Challenge 37   over   at Artful Times.
Artistic Outpost September Referral program - Anything goes using Artistic Outpost stamps.

Mid challenge reminder

When we were thinking of new challenge themes over at Try it on Tuesdays, we hoped this one would appeal to  many folk.  We still hope a few more will join us during this coming week.
This was quite a quick card for me  to make. No inks, no stamps and no messy desk.
I'm still in shock.
I used a flowered  base layer card.
These are my 3 edges-
A dry embossed layer, cut with a fancy edged pair of scissors
A die cut layer [Spellbinders]
A shaped flowered topper.
The sentiment reads, Special Friend.

Thank you for stopping by, I realy appreciate your comments.

A winters tale

This is my take on the new challenge 'Christmas Snow and Ice' which starts today over at
Crafty Cardmakers. Please pop over for all the details and see what our generous sponsors are offering as prizes,  Di's digi Stamps and Hobbyart
I began by random stamping my base card around the edges using Broken China distress ink.
The snowflake layer was again random stamped then heat embossed using silver metalic glitter Wow  embossing powder. There is a piece of angels web material next but it is hard to see on the photo,  a piece of dry embossed music was my next addition.
All shading  used  on the card is Broken china DI
The snowflakes are stamps by Chloe.
There is a Spellbinders snowflake die cut under the ribbon bow.
For the main image I used a Stampendous stamp using London Fog memento ink.
I only  coloured the sprigs of holly as I wanted it to look  a bit grey. Hopefully  it looks  like one of those dusky days in winter when it has been snowing and every thing is still.

Challenge No 7 over at Country View Crafts  is Layers. So I will be joining the fun over there as well.

Thank you for stopping by, I always appreciate your comments.

Count your blessings

Had fun this morning playing with some left over bits and pieces. Just enough to make this tag.
The base is  from my latest Gelli plate experiments. There were a few white areas as I hadn't used enough paint. Easily covered with some Spiced Marmalade and Vintage photo distress inks.

I used an old photo image, not sure where it came from now.
This I die cut and layered up.
The oval metal trimming shows the word 'blessings'.
This started off a green color in the center, before I used gilding wax to tone it down.

There is a new Challenge blog called Tag Along, who's very first theme is Vintage. So I will be joining the fun over there.

Thank you for stopping by, the comments you leave are always appreciated.
