Single flowers

At   Art Journal Journey the theme for the month
chosen by Sheila at Orange Esmerelda is.....
A single Flower.
I have created two digital journal pages using the same base layers as a  starting point ,
adding a single flower.
I have noticed that a few friends have used this same quote,
it goes so well with this theme.

I had lots of good intentions and ideas for this month, but,
with all that has happened here this past year, I  have learned  to
cherish each day as it comes. I hope to get started with some hands on crafting
soon, but  just now,  if it gets me to escape the world for a while
I will use   my digital computer programs..

However you spend your day
stay safe and keep well.

Walking the lines

'Hold the line'
is the theme Chris chose for this month over at
Lots of lines on my page today although some are straighter than others.

Only one photo of the page  in its earlier stages. For the background I used a stencil with a piece of washi tape for the purple zebra to stand on. He wanted a bit of colour in his world   the black and white was looking a bit  dull  to him. So out with the paint pot , to cheer himself up. In my case  the digital computer program I use.
The words by Paul Klee I found on the internet.

Thank you for stopping by, your visits are always appreciated.

Hold the line......... at Art Journal Journey

' Hold the line'...

is the  theme  for October over  at

Art Journal Journey.

We also have some exciting news to share with you all.

The admin family is growing this month as we welcome back

Valerie-Jael  from Bastelmania

and have

Chris from Pearshapedcrafting  who set this months challenge theme joining us there.

Please pop over to get all the information  and say hello to Valerie and Chris.

This is how my journal page began,

with stencils and some washi tape  strips.

The two ladies chatting about a visit to the local  hall to play a Bingo game were computer generated.

We are looking forward to seeing how you all interpret this theme.. it sure got me thinking outside my comfort zone.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you all stay safe and keep well.

She loves Art

A journal page using up some scraps from the pile I tipped up on the table.

It was  a mop up background to start with to which I added some strips of washi tape.

This is a photo of how it looked with a few of the bits and pieces and  die cuts,  before I started sticking them all  down  . I could have added even more but decided to stop . the pile was never going to get any smaller, no matter how many pieces I picked out.

I even added a few digital pieces while I was in the crafting mood.

I will link to Jo's theme.... Texture

 at Art Journal Journey

Thank you for calling in today, your visit is always appreciated.

This page would also fit the theme at Try it on Tuesdays..Use your scraps

Dream whisper imagine

If I get this post to publish it will be a miracle.

New Blogger will take time and patience  to get used to.

This page has been in the making for a number of days

and again I took an easier way to finish it by adding a few images   in the computer program I use

My hands on journal page  has a messy painted, scratched and scraped  base with glittery modelling

 paste pushed through a stencil.

I had a few more photos to share but I haven't been able to get them loaded,

Dream, whisper, imagine.......... these words can mean so many different things  for many of us.

Time........ the word I didn't include ...... is something we take for granted,

its important to use it wisely  as we never know what tomorrow will bring,

so I will leave the three friend with their thoughts and dreams.

I will link to Jo's theme....Texture....  over at

Art Journal Journey

Stay safe  everyone

Texture at AJJ

September at Art Journal Journey
Our host is  Jo from Lets Art Journal

The theme  she has chosen for this month is....
Texture

This messy texture base was my starting point.
I used a stencil and some modelling paste on a kraft card journal page.

I had a few pieces   ready to layer on the base, A fussy cut stamp, material scraps, a piece of wire.

Time to stick it all  down to the base and add the words..
I had fun  with this theme and we hope you will join us at Art Journal Journey this month.

Stay safe.

Hope

A journal page for Alison's theme
'Pockets     and Tags
 over at
The background is a stencil  mop up  to much purple paint to waste,
in fact it did another print after this one.
I used my digital program to create  a tag using photos of this next hands on  page.

The  page   in my journal, with  a selection of stamps and a mop up background. My water colour paints on the light bulb turning out a bit yellow for my liking . I tried gesso to calm it down  but opted  to add
the digital image of a light bulb in my experiments to create a tag.

This page has been in the making for a number of days,  I lost the plot a bit on where it was going and finally decided to share with AJJ before it was  deemed  one  not to share.

My head is still looking for the light bulb moment.

Stay safe everyone.

Gifts and pockets

Thank you

Above is the journal  page I made  to keep in a safe place the pieces Elizabeth sent to me to celebrate the 7th Birthday of the weekly
T stands for Tuesdays gathering where we get together to share a drinks related post

Even safer is the piece of handmade paper  that   came in the envelope.
I will use that when I have more time to create.

The cats were added digitally they wanted to join the party and visit with Bleubeard and Squiggles.

I have missed calling in for tea  for a few weeks,
but I assure you many cups have been consumed as I care for my hubby.
I chipped one of my favourite cups , but as I hate to throw things away,
it now serves as a holder for brushes and pencils.
so I hope this will be acceptable as my cuppa ,
to let me join this weeks gathering.
It may not be today but I will call in to see you soon.

My journal page includes some pockets and tags
I will join in Alisons theme of
......Pockets and tags
Stay safe everyone
and look after yourselves.

Pockets and Tags at Art Journal Journey

A new  month and a new theme
'Pockets and Tags '
 over at.....  Art Journal Journey
where we are welcoming Alison  from  Craftytrog's Arty Adventures our Guest Designer for August.

A compilation of a few of the  hands on stages in my journal before I  added the extra detail  in the computer program I use.

I used a stencil to begin with and then collected together some tags etc. mainly Graphics 45 bits and pieces .  The orange flower petals had been  lying on the table for quite a while waiting to be used.  I added the tags etc in a paper corner pocket and behind cut out strips. Handy to reach for should I need to use them  in future on other journal papers.

We hope you will join us at Art Journal Journey and look forward to seeing how you interpret this theme.

Thank you for calling in, your comments are always appreciated
Stay safe  everyone.

Catching sunbeams and waiting for the kettle to boil

'Have fun in the sun'
a journal page for Erika's theme ...... When its Hot

This is how the base looked in my journal before I added the stamped  and  fussy cut little people.

The base was mop ups and stencils, I stamped the flowers into place then decided to fussy cut more  flower heads as my first efforts at painting them turned out a dirty grey colour as it reacted with the base colours.
The sun rays and sun faces were added in the digital program I use.

Time for an afternoon  cuppa

The espresso is brewed and I am waiting for the kettle to boil for tea.
Then I will be off to join in at
where each Tuesday we are always made very welcome with a drinks related post.

However you are spending your day I hope it will be a good one for you.
Stay safe.

When its Hot at..... Art Journal Journey

The new theme for July begins today at .....

'When its Hot'

chosen for us by our Co-adminstrator
  Erika  [Bio Art Girl]

I used  this journal page as my background, lots of water colour paint smooshed and splashed  all over to create a beach scene.  The vintage bathing belles are digital images. Quite a difference in the costumes women[and men] wore back  then
to the ones we are used to seeing
being worn  on our beaches today.
Those bathing dresses look very hot to wear and I'm sure would be quite heavy when they got wet.

We hope you will join us at AJJ this month and share your  art there.

Thank you for calling by, stay safe everyone.

The cycle ride followed by a nice cup of tea

I  enjoyed making this   digital silhouette styled  page as a reminder   for the theme
Create  a scene  at....
 Try it on Tuesdays
which has another week  for you to join in .
Its the end of the day and the bikers are returning home

It will also be my last  entry to Halle's theme at
Art Journal Journey.
Where she has hosted  and inspired us this past month with her theme...
A Stitch in Time.
Thank you Halle
Like all my journal stitching the page was framed with digital stitches.

We used to cycle as  a family when they were young, especially on holidays,
the first thing I would do when we got home was to put the kettle on for a brew,
the family preferred a cool iced drink but ,Tea has always been my go to drink

Hello friends at Bleubeard and Elizabeths
where we are always made very welcome with a drinks related post.
My tea is beside me as I write up this post,
Yorkshire Tea is my brand of choice,
a traditional blend that I can drink with a splash of milk
or strong and dark depending on how I am feeling at the time.

Thank you for calling in today,
you are always welcome here.
 Stay safe.

Tuesday's Musings

Hello everyone calling in today.
Another Tuesday and  time to go to
where we are always made very welcome  with our drinks related posts.
Where did last week go to?

Another week of   isolation and shielding,   is not easy to cope with.
Time seems to quietly disappear and I wonder what I have actually done  that day.
The highlights of the week are not about where we've been or who we've spoken to or seen,
but seeing our sons  from a suitable distance in the garden .
I do miss not being able to give them a hug.
The grocery delivery has become an event, especially this last week when I managed to order one carrot and one leek . Thankfully our youngest gets our top up shop and we all had a laugh  about mum's latest escapade with on line shopping.

In my ramblings with a friend [over the telephone] we were  talking about the long term effects and how mental health issues  could  be  a big issue in the future.
Restrictions are changing  but as yet none, that would make a big  difference   have changed for us.

The crafting gals ' Miss Mojo and Miss Inspiration'
are still taking their time to get back in the house, I hope they are enjoying themselves where ever they are.

I had a look through  a journal to see if there was a starter/mop up page that might give me some ideas and once again decided that my digital computer program would be      the  best option.
You can see  the beginnings of a stencil page by my cuppa so I do have a work in progress on the  table, I guess it could still be there in the same state two days time.

This is my first hybrid page with a  frothy coffee  for you to enjoy.

This second page with all the stitching and  clocks in the background I will link yo Halle's theme
for June at Art Journal Journey..... A stitch in time.

However you spend your day,
I hope it will be a good one for you.

Ginger ale for T day

Its a glass of ginger ale I have  close to hand today.
It  has been  warm and sunny for a few days here
and I managed a short while with the  family computer.
when husband was resting, to write this T day post., so I can join
and the folk who  gather there to share my drinks related post.
Update on the Lap top.....  it has been retired,
I am looking forward to getting a replacement, but like many things these days
that will be some time in the future,
when one of my sons would be able to take me to the store.
This is one item I would want to see up close and wouldn't risk buying via the internet.
Why close you wonder, its all to do with the keyboard and how clear it looks .

So what was I working creating on the desk top computer .... another digital page

This set of photos  shared with us by out eldest are of the remains of  Beehive coke ovens
he came across while out walking in the Riverside park that is close  to our villages.
There were a number of coal mines in our area and we still have a brick works close to where I live.
This is a link to  a bit of our local history from one of the Local History societies.

What amazed me about these photos is how nature takes over  and   area is slowly reverting to how it looked before we needed to mine  the coal  , it won't be many years before these will be covered  if we don't pass on the relevant history to our children

I will be linking the page with the faux stitching to Halle's theme .....A stitch in Time
at Art Journal Journey

Thank you for calling in today,
however you spend your day I hope it will be a good one for you.

Flowers in her hair

A last page for Mia's theme..... Flowers
this month at Art Journal Journey
We have been so happy to see all the fantastic entries everyone has shared with us for the theme and for Mia's inspirational pages.
This hybrid page started with a mop up paint and stencil base, which I then
added images to in the digital program I use.

I still haven't been able to catch up with you all, the lap top finally gave up
and spat all its toys out the pram. I have lost quite a bit of digital art work,
I'll get our sons to have a look at it for me when they are allowed to visit me properly
 and come inside the house.
So I am catching  snippets of time  on the main desk top computer
when hubby is settled for  a snooze.
The email system still isn't working properly, but I do shout thank you that I can still get the internet.

However you spend your day,
I hope it will be a good one for you.

T day.... coffee! and roses for AJJ

Its Tuesday and its T day
where we are always made very welcome   each Tuesday with a drinks related post.

Just to give a few of you a shock my choice of drink for this post is a......
 ''coffee'.....
with a frothy milky topping.

All this brew needed was the kettle of boiling water
and for me to open the packet and give it a stir. in the mug.
Not my usual brew of tea, but I did enjoy having this for a change.

My hands on  crafting time is still  limited, , although I do try to get some base layers started in my journals.

The first page  involved stencils and oxide inks.
All the images were added in the digital program I use.

A second base layer  with the same stencil

s

There was a lot of ink left on the stencil so  I sprayed it with water
and managed to get the pale softer background.
So another hybrid page created......
this one I will link up to Mia's theme.......Flowers

Thank you for stopping by
However you spend your day, I hope it will be a good one for you.

Meet Miss Rose

Miss Rose is calling in to add some colour to your world and
bring you a friendly hug to brighten your day.

This is how she looks in my journal.
A stencil background, she came  from a die cut block book [StudioLight]

After posing for her photo, the extra flowers. words and stitched frame were added in the digital program I use.
Sorry I cannot attribute the quote.
I had it written down with a few others that caught my eye in recent weeks while surfing the net.

I will be linking to Mia's theme of..... Flowers .....
She would also fit the theme of Lovely Ladies at

Thank you for calling in today.
Stay safe and keep well.

Tuesday is ..T day and a flower for AJJ.

Its Tuesday and its time to visit Bleubeard and Elizabeth for....
T stands for Tuesdays
and we are always made very welcome with a drinks related post.
After a number of days seeming to all spread into one and nothing being completed,
I have a couple  journal pages to share today.
First of all  the tea was placed close by, before I started  writing the post.
This first one had a stencil and stamped background, but was finished off
with some digital images.  Alice and her friends brought their own teapot, but if it wasn't so cold here I would really enjoy one of those ice cream cones.

These  past few days, it seemed like winter was returning, so I have created another journal page for Mia's theme..... Flowers

The words gave me permission to create, so I changed the colours slightly  in the digital program I use.
Even the bumble bee has lost his yellow bands, which I have to admit don't look yellow in the original photo.

Thank you for calling in  today.
Stay safe and keep well.

Make each day count.

'Make each day Count'.
This has got to be one of my favourite  word additions  to a journal page just now.

Another red water coloured flower page for Mia's theme over at

A smudged and splashed background was the starting point
. and a stamp [StudioLight]
that came with its own background random stamping.

After I'd stamped the flower and words  I added more splodges.   I took the photo and went off to play
in the computer program I use.
Where   I added the thready looking flower group
on the left of the page.

Thank you for calling in today.
Stay safe and keep well.

Tuesdays musings.

Meet a local red  squirrel
Our eldest son came across this wood carving  when he was out  for a walk the other day, so he took me these  photos and sent its location  and it turns out that its not far from where we live.
When our restrictions are lifted I may give him a visit myself.
Not much is happening craft wise  for me, I  just don't seem to have the motivation,
although I do have a few journal pages in various stages of completion.
I wake with good intentions and  the next thing I  know its time to make dinner.

However I did remember to take a photo of the Soda bread I made this morning,
The tea as always, was on the bench and I did have a slice of warm bread and butter to help it down.

I will be calling over to Bleubeard and Elizabeth's  where each Tuesday we are always made very welcome with a drinks related post.

Fast forward a few hours yesterday and I finished a journal page.........
which had to wait till this morning to get a photo.

I had  used a stencil for the background  and there was a few mop up areas as well..
Its a  Studiolight  stamp of the flower, which I stamped again and fussy cut.
after I had used water colours for the shading.
I will be  linking  this to Mia's theme at
Art Journal Journey........Flowers

Thank you for calling in and however you spend your day....
Stay safe and keep well.
