Grunge and a cover up job........

Sometimes my journal pages do not go to plan.
 and this page didn't.
The background was splashed and sprayed with paint on top of book papers.
I had stamped the image separately and tore around the edges,
but could I get it to stick down.....no chance.
It was starting to look a real muddy colour.
I tried to remove the image  but it was tearing away the base layers.
Modeling paste through a stencil worked better to keep it in place.
.
They say,   'Art is good for you' and  there is always a, ' right time'...... in this case it wasn't....  'now'.

I could have torn the page from the book, but  creating isn't always a success and I  embrace
the fact,  that  some days work out better than others  my the craft room.

Thank you for calling in , have a smile at my grungy  art,
which looks to me,  even more messier than I usually create.
I don't mind in the least
I took the courage to share it with you today.

I've also  altered it in the digital program I use,
This version  is a bit brighter. What  would I do without gesso.

I think these two pages may fit Erika's theme of
 Vintage and Modern  at
One looks old and the other quite modern.

AEDM day 10

  1. Both pages are wonderful, Yvonne, but the first one appeals more to me because it so grungy. Not everything works out as we want, I'm sure that's an experience we have all made from time to time. Have a great weekend, hugs, Valerie

  3. I'm quite spooked Yvonne, not only did we both discover that poppy napkin but the stamp in your top journal page I have sitting on my table at the moment as I've been sorting through stamps that have never been inked.. They say that these things come in three's so i'm awaiting tomorrow now hee hee!!
Non the less I think she looks fab she's the perfect image for mishaps as she's very forgiving. Both pages are as good as each other but your second page image is a little sassier :D

  4. If we threw away all the art we make and never show it, we would not be good artists. There is ALWAYS someone out there who likes your mistakes. I've learned that some of the art I actually HATE gets the most positive comments! I like them both, but I think I like the second version better because I'm really into modern at the moment. Thanks for sharing these both with us at Art Journal Journey. I agree they BOTH fit Erika's theme. I'm glad you are enjoying AEDM, too.

  5. I would call the top one a happy accident, I like it. Some days Gesso is one's best friend. I also love the second one, and both fit the theme beautifully.

  6. I like both pages Yvonne. They are different but not. The background for both is fabulous.Love the book print and how you used the modeling paste. I think happy accidents as Wendy called it is the perfect description. We all have some of those-or in my case many of those. :) Happy weekend. Hugs-Erika

  7. I like both pages. But I understand how sometimes our art doesn't cooperate with our intentions.

  8. I rather like the mysterious depths of the version which went "wrong" - lovely shadows and atmosphere. But I love the bright and breezy one too - gesso to the rescue! - there is no "wrong" in art-making, is there?

  13. I would call it a success since I love the grungy feel to the page! Super idea to glue it with stencilling paste ! Clever!
The digital altered one is for me the modern version and the original one ist the vintage version... so more than a fantastic entry for Art Journal Journey and it's theme!
