Listen , what can you hear, when you are outside ?

A real rural scene and destination for me today
Out and About at

The peace and tranquility of the countryside is something I may take for granted when we live so close to green fields, farms and woodland. It feels timeless, no need to rush about and plan what will happen in the next hour or so.
Walking  anywhere,  if you take time to stop and listen what do you hear?
In the countryside it may be  the natural sounds of birds and animals, the wind rustling the leaves in the trees, a tractor ploughing the fields etc.
In a town, completely the opposite, noise is all around, mainly traffic, car horns beeping,  a shout or two,  the sound of voices etc.
I know where I  choose to listen to life going on around me,

This is how my journal page began.
A paint sprayed background, some texture added through stencils. scraps of paper from my cluttered desk.
The chickens were torn from a napkin and well stuck down.
Then the digital elements  were added [information in my sidebar].

Thank you for calling in today, you are all very welcome.

  2. Gorgeous page, love the chickens. Here the crows and blue tits are having a competition to see who can make the most noise! Hugs, Valerie

  3. I totally agree with what you are saying about taking the countryside for granted when you live in it Yvonne x we are lucky to be rural and have a stunning country park within 5 minutes walk and we don't go there often enough. We also live 10 minutes from the sea and the stunning views of Arran and Cumbrae, which we also take for granted. Anyway....I love this project and your lovely chickens. They look amazing.

    Sending my best wishes

  4. This is another gorgeous page Yvonne. Something homey about having chickens, although in my neck of the woods it would bring in coyotes closer to the house. I've thought about getting some though. But most likely I will pass on that idea. Have a great day! Hugs-Erika

  8. This is remarkable, Yvonne. I am in awe of your latest AJJ entry, and if I don't find time to later in the week, I want to applaud you for the remarkable job you have done this month as host of AJJ. Not only were you a great artist, sharing art every day, you visited everyone who linked, too. You have set the hosting bar quite high, and I pity the host who will follow you!

  9. Wonderful and thought provoking. I just love to listen to bird sounds and I even know what birds are making some of the sounds as Vic has an app on his phone with bird song. Not too sure about the sound of chickens or cockerels as they make a heck of noise.

    Love Chrissie xx

  10. Wow! This really is a fabulous country scene! I could watch chickens all day - in fact as a child I used to take a sketch book and sit by the chicken coop - not to sketch the hens but to just listen to them and laugh at their behaviours!! I agree with Elizabeth that you have been such a great host at AJJ this month and won't have a chance to say so if I don't do it now….we're off again tomorrow!! Hugs, Chrisx

  13. What a beautiful page Yvonne, I love where your inspiration came from. The sounds here at the lake are one of my favourite things about living here. The ducks, geese and seagulls, the songbirds, the squirrels and even the children playing. I open the windows on even the coldest days just so I listen! It must sound so peaceful where you are. hugs :)
