Discover and Explore for AJJ

Discover and Explore.
Last week we spent a sunny but very cold day 'Out and About'  at the
 Beamish...
.Living Museum of the North[UK]
this is a link if you would like to read more.
We have a yearly visitors membership, so I am sure you will get to see more of this  awesome open air living museum in the coming weeks

We were not the only folk visiting, guess who we bumped into....Agnes and Arthur.
Every one is made to feel  welcome at Beamish
even these two happy monsters.
My page today for

This is how the page began with a map of the site  and a scaled down photo of the guide book.
It is such a   vast area that  it would be impossible for us to see everything in one day.
Every building etc. is from times gone by in the North East, Carefully taken down brick by brick from its original site..... then rebuilt in  at the Museum.

Today we went off to the town.
This involved using the transport system, where you can queue for a tram or an old bus and be taken to any part of the area.

Our first bus of the day took us into the town

The town stables and the horses returning  from a job.
No modern transport is used here, they use all the old vehicles that are on the site.

To Co-op delivery bike
you can see a reflection of the shops on the other side of the street in the windows.

An old bus parked outside the cycle and repair shop.

The park and the band stand

The last tram we took on today's journey out.

Thank you for calling in today, you are very welcome here.

  9. Terrific page Yvonne and a great place to visit. We went and there were coach loads of French students behaving badly and half of the place was closed because of the foot and mouth scare..a long time ago so must give it another go. I loved the old shops and the railway as well..

    Love Chrissie xx

  11. Oh, I want to go! We spent a lovely day on Saturday at Bekonscot Model Village, which is like time travel but in miniature only. Some of my favourite things were all the vehicles - I do love a tram! Great pages, and Beamish is now definitely on my list of "must-visit" places.
