Graffiti for AJJ

Graffiti.
My journal page today
Out and About at......

is all about how we  see the area we live in.
I have to say we have no area's of graffiti where we live,
folk respect other peoples property.
I have been in a town recently, where someone had randomly sprayed paint and  left  a right mess.

However  it can look very artistic and creative when care is taken.
Banksy is one of the wall artists who's work is admired and many other creative folk leave their paintings with  permission by the local councils etc..
It can make a dull boring side wall look interesting to see.
I  have seen some wonderful painted walls on our travels in Ireland a few years ago.

This page began life with paint and a stencilled brick wall.
Pictures taken from an Art Book. I bought in a charity  book sale outside a supermarket.
I added some splashes of paint before the digital grasses and flowers.
I had tried a stamp, but the wall texture made it look a complete mess, so I added more paint and decided to take an easier [for me] option.

Thank you for stopping by, your comments are always appreciated.

  2. What a brilliant page! I love seeing proper street art, but it annoys me to see scrawled tags and obscenities - which seems to be being encouraged by an installation near the university here! Looking forward to seeing some in Paris and would love to go to see the wall art in Bristol! I love how you added the flowers and grasses to your original! Hugs, Chrisx

  3. Maybe the coolest page ever! Adore the colour tones, the vibrant energy and grungy brick wall... this really captures the life and soul of graffiti art.

  4. This is a wonderful page with one of favourite subjects Yvonne. I love to see well done graffiti and some that isn't so well done if it is making a valid point. On our train journey to Hull and Back some building have a word on them and if you find and read everyone they make sense. How the heck anyone has climbed up to the various places to spray the pianted words I can't image.

    Love Chrissie xx

  9. A fabulous graffiti page Yvonne, fabulous colours and texture. Love to see Street Art done properly, but when it's just random spraying it really annoys me.

  10. I agree- there is graffiti and there is public wall art. The art kind can really spruce up a bare wall and look really cool. But I am sure there are some people who don't even like that. :) Hugs-Erika

  11. Love this page!! The random sprays of names and even gang symbols on walls is awful, but I love some good artsy wall art.

  13. Brilliant idea and page Yvonne.
I like the legal street art/graffiti and we have a few on our seafront that are quite nice..
one is a train with all sorts of famous people peeping out of the window, including Laurel and Hardy.
I saw on TV a week ago ( I think it was in Croydon in Surrey) that the shops all had different designs
painted on their shutters and it looked great.
Hope you have a lovely week.... Gill xx

  15. The first time I went to Los Angeles, California, I was exposed to graffiti. I had never seen it before, and was mesmerized by it. I told my friends how much I liked the graphic style, and they were horrified. They let me know I wouldn't like it if I had to live with it all the time. Now, when people see graffiti in my town, they call the city and someone comes out, cleans it up, and paints over it. That's why we don't see much where I live.

I DO love this wall of graffiti. It is a wonderful example of artists expressing themselves with spray paint. Loved how you took us out and about today.
