Printemps

Jo from Lets art Journal  has chosen the new theme for March over at

it is.......Hello Springtime.

On the left is a photo of the base layers to my page. Torn music paper,  a stencil that I had no idea how it would dry out. I'd picked up gesso instead of modelling paste and it seemed to spread with a will of its own.
I used ink pads for shading, swiping them over the page at random.
The other additions were from the scraps box,  some die cut flowers stems,  a few seed beads for the center of one of the flowers.

The quote was computer generated.
'Nature always wears the colours of the spirit'.

After the sunny but cold days recently in the UK where I live we are back to cold and  strong nearly gale type winds, so I think the spring flowers that are blooming already here will  need to be strong  to survive the  weather , in the coming days.

Thank you for calling in to see me today, you are always very welcome here.

  1. Beautiful springtime page! I love how you created the background with the sheet music and the gesso gives such a softness to the stencilling which is perfect for spring ๐Ÿ˜. I've managed to use gesso instead of modelling paste before too ...lol ๐Ÿ˜‰. The pretty flower image and die cuts finish the page beautifully! The weather is back to normal temperatures here too, I'm still dreaming of spring though ...lol ๐Ÿ˜‰. Thanks so much for joining us at Art Journal Journey and wishing you a happy weekend! J ๐Ÿ˜Š x

  2. A lovely celebration of Spring, Yvonne, with that lovely die (I have some cut and ready to be used, lol) and lovely, bright colours. J'adore le printemps ! Nice to see the seed beads - haven't seen any for a long time and they work well for daisies.

  7. This is a most impressive first entry for Jo's theme, Yvonne. I am so impressed with your use of modeling paste through a stencil. You seem to use them a lot in your art. I'm in love with this incredible art and those new wildflowers, too. Thank you for joining us at Art Journal Journey, dear.

  8. Yes even in the south here we’re back to the same weather as you, I just hope we don’t get strong frost that will kill off the new blossom buds. Great page to depict a warm sunny day, hopefully it will return soon xxx

  9. This is so charming and indicating spring is around the corner for us all! A fantastic entry for Jo's theme Yvonne!
Love to see the progress of the already super interesting background.
We have the same weather here afzter a few days of wonderful spring it turned to wind and rain again. But I am sure sun will come again and win. Rain is always a gift from above for the earth, so I don't complain.

    Happy Sunday!
    Big hugs, Susi
