Hello everyone who calls in to see me today.
This first photo is a journal spread that has been in the process of finishing for some time,
No two pages in the book are the same , linen, burlap, calico etc.
So I went down the mixed images route, torn papers, stamps, fussy cut because they didn't show up on the background. Liberally swiped over with colours which also sank into the background.
I did find a nice quote to stamp to use so I will be able to join friends
at
and Halle's theme of ....Words to live by
On Tuesdays we are always made very welcome over at
to share a drinks related post
So what happened in the craft room on one of the recent rainy days.
I decided to make some backgrounds
As always the tea was close by and Mrs Bunny cheered me up.
I also sorted out some of my stored photos ,
these are from our visit to the Scottish Borders in April
Another wet day and many folk were visiting the
Old Gala House in Galashiels it ages back to 1457
and is now a museum and events center
I did get a few to share..
How about this for a ceiling, it looked amazing, a bit hard to get a photo.
All of these next photos were taken in one room, where every wall was covered in murals
I particularly liked the wooden chair in this room as well..
Now I am off for a comfy seat and to begin reading my latest book club book.
Have a great day everyone
loved reading your post and seeing your artwork... i´m not much at the pc these days, the weather is too good;)
ReplyDeleteyou asked for the dyeing of the lens cloth... i take thinned dye inks from refills, e.g. distress inks, adirondacks... any brand will do. i make the cloths wet before i color them, so the ink can spread easily. i also take them (wet) to mop up leftover inks or paint from my surface like baking sheet etc.
happy t-day!
What a fantastic place you visited, love the ceilings and murals, what fun. Glad you were able to have fun making backgrounds while the weather was bad. It's so hot here it's very uncomfortable. Love the mixed media journal pages, super. Happy T day, hugs, Valerie

What a sweet mug :) I'm impressed by that orange-y background. Nice!
ReplyDeleteWhat a ceiling! Such detail! And I love those murals. Happy T Tuesday
What a great quote and spread, Yvonne. I've never tried to make a mixed media piece on loose weave cloth like that. It sure adds a special touch.
ReplyDeleteGala House ceiling is lovely. Since I'm from North America and have never been to Europe, it's fascinating to see beautiful buildings like that, which have stood for centuries. Thanks for the photos and info. Lovely murals. What a good use of those old walls.
Happy T-day! Eileen xx
Your journal pages never fail to impress and excite me. This latest entry is wonderful and quite original, too. As much as I admire that latest journal you purchased, I can see how difficult it would be to keep a consistent spread in such a unique substrate. Having said that, I adore what you created, including the awesome heart and the sentiment. It goes well with Halle's theme at Art Journal Journey.
ReplyDeleteThe photos of Old Gala House are wonderful. That room with all the murals is priceless. It's wonderful. And the ceiling is lovely, too. This was one fabulous home you toured and great because you were allowed to take photos, too.
LOVE your bunny mug. You have a "thing" for those bunnies, don't you? This one is adorable and perfect to hold your tea for T this Tuesday, dear friend.

ReplyDeleteYour journal page is very textured today. I especially like that heart.
ReplyDeleteWe have had a bit of wet weather here as well. Despite the weather your trip to the Old Gala House looks like the perfect place to spend a dreary day. I agree with you that the chair is really cool. But those murals are pretty amazing.
Happy Tea Day,
Kate
