Please pop over to see how all the D.T. interpreted the theme
and we hope you will join us there.
On the left is a couple of photos I remembered to take as I was enjoying making this journal page
For the background I mopped up some oxide inks that I had sprayed with water on my glass mat.
My favourite stencils were used next, some with modeling paste to give a bit of texture.
All the other additions came from my stash.
My take on the Vintage theme was a memory lane trip, back to school days.
I was lucky mine were happy ones, but going back further I think girls must have had a hard time getting an education.. Most were sent off to work as soon as they reached school leaving age or expected to work in the home helping their mothers.
Thank you for stopping by today, you are always very welcome here.

Gorgeous journal page, and all kids had it harder in those days, especially the girls. My grandma came from a family with 9 girls, and she was shipped off to England at the age of 16 to marry my granddad, whom she had never before seen! The marriage went well, but it could have been different. Hugs, Valerie

Such a beautiful page! I love the vintage style that you created from your school days and the layered background of distress oxides, stencils and modelling paste is gorgeous 😁. The lace adds such a lovely finish and the TH papers and images are perfect too. I have very fond memories of my school days 😁. Happy Tuesday! J 😊
ReplyDeleteA lovely page with beautiful vintage photos 💖
ReplyDeleteYour background is amazing and also the composition and your thoughts are so right - we women are blessed nowadays-
ReplyDeletethis is the reason I am very interested in the history of feminist movement - some amazing sufragettes did so much for our rights! We should rember them much more often!
A wonderful vintage page Yvonne! Happy TioT's!

What a perfect way to demonstrate Vintage. I was so impressed with the background and the texturing, too. Those children were darling and I loved the lace and crochet you embellished the piece with. I agree with Susi about being at an age where we have so many more rights than the children and lady in the artwork. I'm not sure when child labor laws came into effect in the states, but it was the best thing that could happen to poor (as opposed to wealthy), uneducated children.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pages, I love the vintage theme and your gorgeous background.
