Tea day and Christmas

Hello everyone who calls in to see me .
its Tuesday and its T day over at

where we are always made very welcome with a drinks related post.
I hope I don't give you a shock today
as I have actually made my first Christmas card of the year.

I cleared a small space on my desk, made a mug of tea, found  a napkin stored from last year  with a sweet robin perched on a branch.. All I needed was the patience to wait until the tissue dried after sticking it to card, the I layered it up onto a kraft card base. I didn't use the glue to stick the napkin that you can see in this photo, I used Pebeo Bindex its a well used pot with just a scraping left in the bottom, I will have to replace this soon.
Can anyone suggest a product that will stick tissue down?

I will be linking  to Day 5 over at
However you spend your day,
I hope it will be a good one for you.

  5. This is a fab card, Yvonne and I love your robin! I've found Mod Podge best, but I believe it's only watered down PVA... not that I do it often. I tend to forget how useful they can be, despite my stash... the very thought of C cards makes shivers run down my spine...eugghh! I love making an odd one or two, but after that, they just don't come easily, much as I love Christmas. Happy Tuesday and Happy T day.

  7. For gluing tissue and napkins, have you tried acrylic matte medium? It works really well for me.

  9. Wow, Yvonne, that first Christmas card turned out great. On SMALL surfaces, I run a bead/line of glue stick starting at the top and working my way down. On larger images, I often get wrinkles because I'm not as careful. This turned out great. And it goes PERFECTLY with your beautiful mug. Thanks for sharing it with us for T this Tuesday.

  11. Wow, I love your Christmas card! Robins are a favourite of mine and I actually have the same robin design tissue so I'm going to give this a go, thanks so much for the inspiration 😀. For tissue paper I've tried both UHU Stic and matte gel medium, I have found using the UHU to stick the tissue paper in place and then gel medium along the edges works for me. If needed I cover the tissue paper with gel medium to protect it too. I find that using just gel medium unless used sparingly can be too much as it softens the tissue paper so it tears. I'll check back later to see what everyone suggests as I would be interested in any recommendations too as I find sticking tissue paper is not easy ...lol 😉. Wishing you a very Happy T Day! Hugs, Jo x

  12. I love your Christmas card, the robin is cute and you did well sticking it all down as I always have problems !
I hate to admit this but I have most of my cards ready as I needed to bring some with me to post while I’m over here, much cheaper postage than posting them from England .
Have a lovely crafty week, Jan x

  16. I am sorry, I don't know where you get it. I had never heard of it. I love your Merry Christmas robin, though. I have done a technique where we iron the napkin on, or somehow use and iron to get the image on a card. I can't remember how to do it, just that it was a napkin and an iron. LOL Happy Tea Day

  17. Sweet robin. So different from the American robin I'm so use to seeing. As for glue, matte medium would work. You could also try Mod Podge which is a decoupage glue. You also might be able to use a white PVA glue like Elmer's thinned with water 50-50.

  18. What a sweet robin. Lovely card.
No I have never used tissue for that reason. I can't get it to stick in one piece with the glue that I have, so I will be interested to see what people recommend.
Sorry for being so late again,
    Happy belated T-Day,
    Hugs,

  19. Wowwww this is a Gorgeous Christmas card Yvonne!! I love the little robin. Wish you spent a very happy T-day.
I used to glue tissu paper with liquitex gel matte, and wait it to dry, but today I´ve just glued it to a cardstock with a glue stick, Scotch, and didn´t wait, just added the decoration on the card with hot silicone. It´s an autumn card, I shall post it tomorrow. The results are good I think.
I wish you a very nice Thursday, and send big hugs my friend

  20. Gorgeous art and nice mug, too!

Here's a great link that does what you want IF you are willing to use an iron:
    https://myhumblehomeandgarden.com/2018/04/06/easy-paper-napkin-transfer/

As for adhesive, I think it depends on the surface you are gluing the napkin to. A heavy enough card will take a coat of gel medium or pva glue. Lighter weight paper needs glue stick. I used to use YES paste, but realized it just gluestick in a jar, lol. UHU works about as well for me as any other and seems to stay soft in the tube longer. xoxoxo
