Abbotsford

A journal spread for
and Alison's  theme of Recycle/Collage.

On Thursday we went for a visit to Abbotsford House, the home of Sir Walter Scott and picked up a few freebies about the house.  Keeping these items always seems a good idea at the time, but usually they end up in the recycling bin.
So I decided to create this collage and got out the scissors and the glue stick. I also used a scrap of material from a really good bargain bag  of scraps that I found when we visited a Tartan manufacturers.
So I have recycled some  bits and pieces, and made a memory collage  in my journal.
This is a couple of the photos I took of the house and walled garden.
I will share more when we get back home.

Thank you for calling in today, you are always very welcome here.

  2. What a fabulous and interesting place! I love how you recycled the freebies to remember your visit - perfect 😀. Your page looks wonderful and the way you layer all the elements is so beautifully done. Those amazing brightly coloured pieces of tartan, in your materials photo, caught my eye too! Wishing you a lovely weekend and happy travels! J 😊 x

  3. This is most impressive, Yvonne. From the looks of it, the trip was worth it. I know what you mean about freebies. My problem is, I hang onto mine and they never reach the recycle bin. I simply adore your journal entry and am very pleased you shared it with us at Art Journal Journey, too.

  6. I know exactly what you mean about these tourists brochures. I use them in my art too, but I always end up with more than I need so it just makes more work for the hubby when he goes to the dump and has to recycle. :) Wow-Abbotsford looks beautiful. I wish we had castles and large glamorous estates here. We do have estates, but here in New England they are usually not so grand and more just large versions of houses. How fun to see such beautiful places. Of course we have nice gardens-but not until we get spring. :) Happy weekend. Hugs-Erika
