Inspired by...... at Art Journal Journey.

Inspired by.....

is the theme for April over at Art Journal Journey

This theme was chosen for us by Eileen from the Artful Crafter, sadly Eileen

didn't make it after  heart surgery and  passed away last month.. In her memory we are

using the theme she chose for us, with Erika and Chris hosting.

This has been a hard journal page for me  to complete. The theme wasn't the problem,  it was my thoughts going off  sideways. knowing how her family and friends must be feeling .

The inspiration for my page came from a   session in the garden.  My eldest son had fun with a  tree saw and cleared some large branches and I  got started in the greenhouse  tackling the vine that decided  it was taking over the whole space.  It was good to get out in the fresh air, I  had a few  smiles   as I remembered  my sons as youngsters going out and bringing me in bunches of flowers as well as weeds that had to be  given pride of place  in a pot on the window ledge.

Once again my journal page was completed in the digital program I use. It started off with paper scraps, paint and  embossed stencil layers.

I hope you will join us at AJJ we all look forward to seeing what inspired you.

Take care and stay safe.

  2. This came out amazing and beautiful Yvonne. I can image how hard it was for you. I had the same thoughts as I created my page, but you are far more aware right now of what it must be to go through this loss. I'm glad you got the page finished, and I am thinking of you. Hugs-Erika

  3. An imaginative journal page with a great background and the filled vase full of spring flowers for Eileen's theme.
A wonderful memory with your sons and also for Eileen.
Have a nice day, hug Elke

  4. I can think of nothing nicer than a vase of flowers to remember your friend Eileen with. It also has obviously brought happy memories back to you of your time with your sons. My mum had her birthday in May (which was also her middle name because of the month) and I used to pick her lots of mayflowers, (which were tiny mauve ones that grew in wet ground) during that month. Funny how mums even display dandelions if picked for them by their children.
    Thinking of you, especially now.
    Hugs, Neet xx

  6. Such a beautiful page! The flowers and memories are wonderful, I remember Eileen recently creating her "Pocket Full Of Posies" pages with all her homecrafted flowers so this is a perfect way to remember her too 😀. I love that we get to celebrate and remember Eileen this month by joining her chosen challenge theme, thanking you and the rest of the AJJ team for organising this! Happy April! Hugs, Jo x

  7. I totally agree with you about this being a difficult piece to create. I also feel for her husband and her family. You really created a genuine beauty, though. You certainly found a way to honor her. Thank you for these lovely flowers you shared with us at Art Journal Journey, dear friend.

  8. I am sure that this was especially difficult for you Yvonne. The flowers are fabulous, yes, flowers mixed wth weeds picked by your children are the best!
Eileen used to often make comments about gardens! A lovely tribute, hugs, Chrisx

  11. It's a beautiful page and I can imagine how hard it must have been for you knowing the loss her family must feel. It's good that you focused on happy memories for you after your day in the garden - there's nothing nicer than a bunch of flowers picked by your child.
    Hugs, Avril xx

  12. I think a bunch of wild flowers and ordinary flowers and even some weeds is the best.
I love your artistic bunch of flowers, so colourful and fresh and bouncy.
    Love from Sheila.

  15. How delightful this is Yvonne. So much has happened over the past year for us all, to create with people in mind is a very beautiful thing as we hold them closer in our hearts and mind. Sending hugs your way, take care and stay safe Tracey xx

  16. Beautiful on so many levels - as a wonderfully done AJ page, as a representation of beautiful memories, as a tribute to Eileen, and as sweet thoughts for her family. That background is amazing and inspiring and the flowers are sooo pretty. Well done, Yvonne. Hugz

  17. My heart did a little sinking as I read the top of the post... I’m glad you are doing some crafting as I love to see what you have done. Spring is coming slowly to the North east of Scotland- I wish it would get a wriggle on!
