Birds, Caravans and Tea

Last week we were away from home and stayed at a beautiful
caravan site in Derbyshire, we do like to stay here at least once a year.
One of the perks of having the caravan.

It is in the grounds of  Chatsworth House, hidden well from view in the old walled garden.
The house itself is currently under restoration in parts ,  the photo is an old one as there is scaffolding and protection covers over some of the outside walls.
Chris  showed some super photos  last week, and this  of her visit to this House,
We were regular visitors to the Farm Shop as well.

Can you see our Meg waiting patiently for the door to be unlocked.
While you stay on the site you get a key , which allows you to leave the walled area and walk freely on the  many paths that run though the estate.
The notice on the door reminds us to be sure to lock when we have passed through it.

I remembered to take a photo of our tea and coffee flasks,  Always a good brew of us both,
 even on warm days.

The old girl doesn't walk so far these days, but enjoyed being out and we keep  to the flat parts of the estate.

T stands for Tuesday
over at...

While I was on the computer creating in the digital
program. I added a few extra flasks
to share with friends. in case they are thirsty
when they call in for a cuppa today.

This will  be my last journal page for Gills theme over at
Art Journal Journey

where August has  been all about Natures Wonders
all the fantastic art pages can all be seen here on the  a  Pinrest board.

When I was searching for strange looking animals on the net
the other day these two birds caught my eye.

A Frigate Bird

A Shoe billed Stork.

I wonder what kind of call these two unusual birds make.

On the left if the photo taken from my 8 x 8 inch journal, before I added the words
 digitally in  MCS
Its hard to see the texture, I used crumpled, then flattened  paper tissues.
Sprayed  and splodged it  with a variety of paints.
The birds are fussy cut Paper Artsy stamps.

Thank you for calling in to see me ,
You are always welcome.

  1. Wonderful everything in this post Yvonne. What a terrific place to park your caravan. So many walks in the grounds and amazing things to see in the gardens even if the house is under restoration.

The flasks are brilliant. I painted the top of one of ours as they are both the same-should have thought of your idea instead.

The AJJ page is just beautiful and fun all at the same time. What amazing pages you have made for the month.

    Have a great day

    Love Chrissie xx

  2. Beautiful post, love the photos and the flasks - I remember camp's coffee, my Great Auntie Fanny always had a bottle of it ready for coffee! Great journal pages again for AJJ, thanks so much for all of your support this month. Happy T Day, hugs, Valerie

  3. I admit I adore the "spodged" background you created using tissue papers. They worked perfectly with the fussy cut birds.

When I first saw your lead in page/photo, I thought I was in some kind of time and mind warp. I was SO glad you mentioned that Chris's photos are of the same place. It must be a very popular place to visit, and to stay, too. It was good to see that Meg travels with you and gets included in the family activities and photos.

I really enjoyed the coffee and tea flasks. I'm with your hubby and will have a flask of coffee when I visit, please. It was so thoughtful of you to create more of these for us to share with you. Thanks for sharing your art, your photos from the caravan site, and your coffee and tea flasks with us for T this Tuesday.

  4. What a fabulous post! How great it must be to walk around the estate with no one around - it really is a wonderful place! I must say I love those flasks - we are lucky that we both like coffee in our large flask - although it does mean remembering to take an extra cup! Your journal page is fabulous and love how you added the quote! Happy T Day! Hugs, Chrisx

  5. You also got to see that gorgeous home. I enjoyed Chris's photos so it was nice to see your page about Chatsworth. It looks like a gorgeous place, and as I posted on Chris's blog, I would love to go there. Your bird page is funny too. Nice to have a little smile first thing in the morning. I love that stork photo too. We saw one stuffed last spring on a field trip I took a class on, the one we saw was stuffed. The kids thought it was funny and seeing your photo made me smile and think of that. Happy T Day Yvonne.

  8. So much to enjoy in your lovely post Yvonne!
Camping at Chatsworth looks really special.
When we visited Derbyshire we were really taken with "the unstately home and country estate" of Calke Abbey.
Wish we could have stayed longer and seen more sights in that area.
Fun flasks and your bird page too!
Those birds you shared certainly are unique...nature is amazing!
    Happy T Day oxo

I learn something new from you girls all the time. The other thing I have not tried is the tissue paper. Thanks for sharing your process...it is so helpful for newbies like moi. Hugs...genie
