Watching and waiting

My last journal page for the September theme of ........
Through my Window  at  Art Journal Journey.

On the left is the original page, made with a variety of stencils and distress inks. I think the background was mopped up Dylusions spray inks.
The stamps are Graphics 45, Stampers Anonymous, Chocolate Baroque and Stampotique.
The photo above has a few added digital elements, the face in the window is from mischief circus.

The Halloween season is rapidly approaching, my son's used to have lanterns made out of turnips back in the day. They grew up and many years passed. Now here I am in blogland   anticipating its coming and creating a few pieces to hang in my porch and create in my journal.

Thank you for stopping by to see me today. I always appreciate the comments you leave me.

Colours of Autumn for TioT's

We are now into our Autumn season in the UK.
The new challenge  over at Try it on Tuesdays is....
Autumn, - colours, -leaves etc.
Please pop over for all the details
and see how the team interpreted this theme.

The hay will have been collected many weeks ago,
but I  am using  these stamped images  [ by Sheena]  for me they  depict end of summer
 and bring us into autumn.

I used water colours for most of the colouring.  Fussy cut the oak leaves and acorns.
The trusty Vintage Photo Distress ink used for a bit of aging and on the stencil I used in the foreground, which is nearly all covered with the ribbon.

Thank you for calling in to see me, the comments you leave are always very much appreciated.

What do you see?

A couple of weeks ago on my Birthday I was given two 'grown ups' colouring books.
These books seem to be quite popular in the UK as they are on sale in a number of supermarkets.
The above page is the result of a little digital altering using  overlays from Mischief Circus.
That quote is one of Edgar Allen Poe's.
I know I will be tempted to purchase more of these  digi's  in the future.

This is the page I coloured in yesterday, lots of interesting things nestling in the wolf's fur.
I was limited with colours, as I only brought a basic set of colour pencils with me in the caravan.

Thank you for stopping by, your comments are always appreciated

A face on the wall

One of the things I realy wish I  could do, is to draw faces. However I have managed to purchase a  few stencils and this is one of my latest from Artistcellar.
My blog friends Valerie and Susi have me in awe  with the   faces they paint.
Valerie,  this is a page I just had to try  and experiment with for myself,
 after seeing your inspirational  posts.

The first photo shows the  page with the  added addition of some digi images,
Mischief Circus and my Craft Studio.

On the left is my  original page. Using a variety of stencils, stamps [including Indigo Blu and Bee crafty] and distress inks for the background.
I had fun today, especially as my supplies in the caravan are limited, as are the digi additions I have on the laptop.

Thank you for stopping by to see what I have been making, the comments you leave for me are always appreciated.

Freda's view from her window for AJJ

Another birds eye view  in my journal page today
This time its Freda's  view  from her high rise window.
She is off to visit friends in the city and taking them a bunch of flowers.
She likes to visit with friends, they can gossip for hours,  about old times.
They will talk about  their families  and  catch up on  allthe latest news.

This is how the page began,  a mop up base, I have many of these in my journal.
Next some stencils using Distress ink-Abandoned coral.
The stamps and stencils are all  from Tim Holtz.

Next some texture, for this I mixed some Golden glass bead gel with some acrylic paint and another Tim Holtz stencil.
As it was drying out I took the photo into my computer program [MCS]
and had a bit of a digital play.
The result was the first photo I posted.

Another page going off to
where the theme is Through my Window.

Thank you for calling by to see what I have been making today,
 your comments are always appreciated
Forgive me if I don't get to visit you all  regularly for  a short while.
We are enjoying our last break away in the caravan, before the  start of winter.
I prefer the views from my window, autumn colours and woodland,
Freda is welcome to her city views.

Life's moments

Sharing a  double sided  4 x 4 inch fat page with you today.
This was made for a swap with a craft pen friend.
The base paper were already so pretty with the lovely ladies,  I only needed to add some
texture and details including a metal corner piece..
It was a Tim Holtz stencil  and when the modelling paste was dry I added some Gold gilding wax
The words were from  the Hash Tags set [again Tim Holtz]

This is what can be seen on the other side.
My friend has the originals,   so for this post and
keeping up with my digital experiments I have also added a few images from a digi set
I recently bought  from
Mischief Circus.

There is still another week for you to pop over and join us at
Try it on Tuesdays
where the challenge is to, 'Add some Metal'.

Thank you for taking time to call in and see me today,
I always appreciate the comments you leave for me.

Live your own story

This happy young couple are heading out  on a journey of discovery.
I wonder what will they see through their window, as they travel life's journey  together..

This is my journal pages before I added a few digital elements in   my Craft Studio program.
The base had been sprinkled with  green Brusho powder and then sprayed with water. Stencils to add some interest  to the background and a selection of stamps on. the trees were from a Sheena  Douglas set
 and words  from  Tim Holtz..
The main image of the young couple is a Crafty Individuals stamp, water coloured then fussy cut.

Sharing this page over at
  Art Journal Journey
for the current theme of..... Through my Window.
and
Crafty Individuals
where the challenge is...
'Anything goes in September'.

Frank and Ernest

A mixed media page today, using stamps, stencils, modeling paste , paints and finally a few digital additions.
I have called my Quirky Bird, ' Frank'.
He lives in one of London's parks and this view from his tree home,  looks an enticing, fun, destination.
He is asking his friends if they fancy a night out,
especially Ernest the parrot who is a very good talker in mixed company.

This is the unaltered page, with the quote  uncovered--
Life was meant for a great adventure.
I hope Frank had a good night out.

I will be joining the fun at
where the current theme is Through my Window

the theme is Landscape.
Rosie, I hope you don't mind me using the same  bird , it just seemed to go so well on my page.
Your page was inspiring.

Thank you for all the comments you leave for me, I appreciate them all.

Use some Metal -- for TioT's

'Use some metal'  is Try it on Tuesdays  new challenge theme,
the girls have made some fantastic examples,
please pop over to take a look and read all the challenge  details.

I have to admit I didn't know what I would end up making when I embossed a piece of black card and seed tag  in an Embossalicious folder, then rubbed them over with a mix of Empire  and Renaissance gold Pebeo gilding wax. I had some metal work fancy pieces to hand that I knew would be used with flowers.

I used Tattered Floral  [Alterations]  die cuts, this was a patterned paper, high lighted with gilding wax. I have tried many times to get better photos,  and this one in particular  does look a bit dull, but it has a lovely glow in real life.
So, with  simple matting and layering ,  this hanging is the  end result.

Thank you for stopping by to see me today,
the comments you take time to leave are always appreciated.

A girls night out.

Can you believe what you see?
Well Millie here certainly did when she looked out of the window and saw a few fairies fluttering around.
There she was, propping up the table, with her favourite drink close to hand,
quietly waiting for her friend to come back from the bar.
They were out on the town  and were enjoying themselves.
I do hope she could see what Millie did,  it would give them something to talk about for days.
However, I could imagine her friend may have said, that she had had, one too many to drink.

A digital journal page today, one I enjoyed creating.
First of all I  had created the framed window with the fairies a few days ago,
life took over and it was left as work in progress.
Then this story line popped into my head and I added the other images to my digital MCS page.
.
So this is off to
September's theme is,  'Through My Window'.

Thank you for calling in to see me today, I appreciate all the comments you leave me.

Through the tall window for AJJ

I often think it would be good to be able to see what is going on inside my head
when I begin to put paint on a journal page.
This was one of these occasions when stopping was not an issue, the more slapped on the better,
with no idea what I would think of next.

So lets start with the actual  page.
The base was mop ups and Brusho powder sprinkles, random stamping, a scrape of texture paste and a little silver gilding wax.
The main image  stamps are from Crafters Companion and were water coloured.. I think I realised now that this was a messy fun day, I didn't  have a plan and I think you can tell.

The theme for September at
is
 Through the Window.
Time to add some digital alterations, using my Craft Studio program.
So the result, at the top of, is a glimpse through the window, into my chaotic
crafting  mind today.
I will be printing this out and pasting onto the page beside my original.

Thank you for stopping by to see me today. I do always appreciate the comments you leave for me.

The morning Brew

Sharing a  'just because', card I made for a tea loving friend,
who like me has to start each day with a cup of strong tea.
The background is stencilled and random stamped.
Vintage Photo, and Victorian Velvet distress inks, were used for all the shading.
This was also the first use of my new Tea Cups die [Tim Holtz] ,
I have been waiting for months to get my hands on this.
The words are from a Dylusions stamp set.

There is still another week for the 'Try Something New',  Challenge to run at
Try it on Tuesdays. We are all enjoying seeing the super entries and hope you will join the fun.

Through the arched window

'Through my Window', is the  theme  for September over at
chosen by Corrine.
Peace and tranquility was the thoughts in my head when creating this page.
I think I am on the outside looking through  the window of a ruined church,
whatever it was, it has  a calming effect for me.
listen carefully and the bird may be singing.
I can hear them in my garden right now.

Water colour wash as a base then a selection of stencils, using distress inks, Black Soot, Vintage Photo
  and Peeled Paint
The raffia scraps etc  and die cuts were in the bits box.

Thank you for stopping by to see what I have been making,
I always appreciate the comments you leave.

Fly away little Bird. for Stamps and Stencils

Up, up and Away.....with a twist.

is the challenge theme for September at Stamps and Stencil
Sharon wants us to show e.g. a plane, bird, feather, anything that can go up in the air.
The twist is  to use Autumnal Colours copper, burnt orange etc
Please pop over to see what we have all been making

I have to admit that taking photos was the last thing on my mind  as I was creating this project.
The base. a 6 x 6 inch canvas  was layered with a few  pieces of washi tape and scraps of lace.  Next came the stencils [Tim Holtz and Clarity]  and paper artsy Grunge Paste.. I left this to dry and gathered together a selection of spray paints including  Dylusions-Gold Mica, Amber and Sweetened orange. Using these until I was happy with the colours of autumn I hoped to see.

The bird stamp is from a  Dina Wakley set and was water coloured.
This I fussy cut and perched it on a twig from my garden.

The leaves and acorns are die cuts, but as my storage system for these was on a  magnetic sheet,  the makers packaging has been lost.

Thank you for stopping by to see me I always appreciate the comments you leave me.

Back to school at TioT's

A new month and a new challenge at Try it on Tuesdays.
This time the theme is  to 'Try Something New'.
Please pop over to see what we all made.
My happy family of Quirky Birds are going back to school today.

Arthur is always last to leave his cage and is never ready when Cynthia and Agnes call for him.

I gave myself the extra challenge to mainly use water colours and Aqua tints, I even used them for the background stamping.
First of all I had trickled paint over the card. let it run. smooshed it around a bit with a mop up. just like a kid being given its first piece of paper and some paint. Great fun. The bottle tops dipped into the paint were super to make a pattern of circles.
The mop up cloths sprayed with water were good for filling in gaps.
Next up was a Tim Holtz stencil to add texture

My new crafty item was this set of die cuts, that match the bird stamps. One of the easiest products of this type that I have used. The die cuts fit over the images so well.
