Journal 52- week 8

When I signed up to take part in Journal 52, I just knew that it was NOT going to be easy for me.
However, we are at week 8 and I find I am tackling things I would never have dreamt of doing, or even showing you the result. As always we had our prompts and guides on this weeks theme....................
'Found Poetry'
Well I do love to read poetry, but this was right out of my box. These are the words I picked out from my chosen book page, I was also lucky to get some that were in order and made sense to me.
'Moonlight painted her hair
He was in love.'
All it needed was coats of  gesso, acrylics white, turquoise and blue. A bit of random stamping and the Wendi Vecci  face image . I have yet to find the courage to try my hand a painting faces. Oh dear hope that is not an omen for a future prompt.
Thank you for stopping by, I do appreciate the comments you leave.

Magical moments.

'Anything Goes', is the new theme. over at  Fashionable Stamping Challenges .All we ask is that stamping must be a main feature on what you make. Please pop over for all the details and see what my design team sisters have been making.
The words under the stamped image read-- Silences make the real conversations between friends. This is a Paperbag Studio Image, stamped onto a piece of art canvas using Archival ink, edged with Vintage photo distress ink.  I also stamped the image onto tissue, this was partially layered on to the original ,to give a bit of added texture .

The base layer of this project, you will see it in the next photo was a piece of chocolate covered card, dry embossed through a leaf design  folder, before swiping over with Picket fence distress stains.
The next layer  started off as a piece of corrugated card. Painted with Linen coloured acrylic paint, then  painted with brush- fulls of Old paper distress stain, swipes of Picket fence and some watered down Bundled sage.
A  bit  random French script  stamping
Next came the stenciling, when the grunge medium  had dried off,I added the main image  and re stenciled the flower to go across the picture.   I painted it with water colours and did a bit more swiping over the top with the Bundled sage ink pad.
The leaves and butterflies, I think are Memory Box dies. water coloured then sprayed with Dylusions Gold Mica spray.

The challenge over at Country View Crafts for February is Painty Pleasures, I think that this may fit their theme as well.

Thank you for stopping by, your comments are always appreciated.

Best friends

Challenge 26 over at Tag Along is 'Lots of Layers'.  We were asked to say how many we used. So as I went along I jotted down what I did.
 So here goes.
[1] A simple beginning with the base tag, a little script stamping.
[2]Andy Skinner  mask for the children , stamping inside the shape first,
[3]  then  using the cut out piece as a mask  and Spiced Marmalade distress  to get the silhouette of the kids.
. [4] Some book paper scraps,
 [5] Tissue tape.
[6] A bit of grunge paste through a stencil.   Wait till it dries,
[7] Add a couple of Stampotique images, I had to stamp these again on a scrap of paper and fussy cut bits to add to the tag, so they would show up
[8] paint images with distress markers. Vintage photo and Spiced marmalade.
[9] Out with the same colours  in distress ink pads and build up the shades.
[10] Add a couple of words- Best friends.
Well I do hope this all counts as layers,  to me layering usually involves lots of papers and bits and pieces.

Thank you for stopping by to take a look, I do so appreciate your comments.

Journal 52-week 7 When I grow up

Our prompt for  Week 7  at Journal 52 was -When I grow up..... This was a super prompt, all kinds of ideas sprung to mind  for this week. I went with the thought  that we all hold our own destiny,  in our hands. Would I have changed my chosen pathway? --No.  The balloons hold brief stages in my pattern of life, I think I could have written many books of what happened between. As for the future,  that is another stage of growing up  and enjoying the later years of life.

Handwritten with Love

The new challenge over at Try it on Tuesdays has a bit of a twist this time.We are looking for something  Handmade, but we must see some Writing as well.  The DT decided to add handwriting  to our projects and we would love you to do this as well, but we have added some alternatives.
Hand writing  is something I realy avoid doing, but  we do like to get folk out of their comfort zones at TioT's.

I stamped up the quote I wanted to use[Art phrases stamp from Creative Expressions]. Had a practice copying the words  on scraps of card .  A  few went into the bin before I managed one that I would want to use.
The background of the tag  was random stamped, heat  embossed with  an un- named turquoise embossing powder There is a zig zag stencil across the bottom corner, rubbed over with turquoise glitter as it dried

All the colours and shading were distress inks, Victorian Velvet, Vintage Photo and a touch of Bundled sage.

Thank you for stopping by, your comments are greatly appreciated.

A feathered friend,

'Come Fly with Me', is the new theme that  Viv has set for us at Crafty Cardmakers and More.
Please pop over for all the details, we have two sponsors this time  Hobby Art Stamps and Di's Digi Stamps.

I used a piece of G45 card for the base layer and a couple of pieces of dark green and brown to layer the main images. This main piece of  the card was random stamped using stamps from Indigo Blu and Stampers Anonymous. The bird on the branch I had to fussy cut, so it would stand out from the background.
All the colouring and shading was distress inks, Antique linen, Vintage photo and Peeled paint.

Thank you for stopping by to take a look, your comments are always appreciated.

Play Days

Over at Sugar Creek Hollow we are, ' Dreaming of the Beach', for our new Challenge.
We  are also  welcoming a Guest Designer this week  Marie,  please pop over  for all the details and see what we all made.

I live in the UK  and this scene is a bit of a trip down memory lane ,  as we are still  in our winter season.  But I'm sure some folk somewhere in the world will be having a a bit of warmth and sunshine.
This little guy is a stamp from Joanna Sheen.  Bucket and spade at the ready and he's off to  to splash about in the sea,. The trimmings all came from my stash  box,  things that I hoard and cannot throw away.
The image is water coloured .
I edged this oval die cut  and play ticket  with Frantage embossing powder,  Aged aqua and Aged Marine. The base card is a Kraft card, and the layers, ribbon, lace and metal charm boat,  all came from the box that never seems to have any space for more.
Other challenges-
Inkspirational challenge 50- Designers challenge is a Tic, Tac, Toe.
my line is Embossing heat/dry ,  ribbon /lace,  metal charm.

Its lovely to have you stop by, I do so appreciate the comments you leave.

Roses are Red

The new theme  at Tag Along  is -Roses are Red,  a super  challenge  subject especially as its Valentines Day today. I have  many pieces of pre- inked, stamped and generally messy cards ready to be cut, so this is what I used for the base of the tag. The die cut  shape was stamped with script, shaded with Victorian velvet distress ink, and splashed with water that I wash my brushes in. Now this was accidental, as I knocked the water jar, but the result didn't look too bad. The rose [an old old favorite] was stamped, embossed and then water coloured.
Thank you for stopping by today, I always appreciate your comments.

Journal 52 -The lost art of love letters.

Week 6  at Journal 52 and the prompt title we received was,  'The Lost art of Love Letters',  together with some super guidelines  and information.
Well those of you  who know me, can imagine  my delight with this prompt.

Out with the vintage bits and pieces to make this collage page .I realy liked this  quote, which  reads-
I would spend my whole life
dancing through puddles
and chasing rainbows
hand in hand with you.

Thank you for taking time to stop by, I do so appreciate your comments.

Fly with me for FSC.

Time to tell you all about our new challenge at Fashionable Stamping Challenges. This time we were asked to, 'Build it Up', and use at least three stamps.
Please pop over for all the details and see what my design team sisters have been making.
I started off with a shaped card, adding a base layer of  G45 paper
Next came some fancy edges, using die cuts.
This brings me to the main piece.
The main focal image is by Red Lead Paperworks, I have had this ages. She was stamped on to a piece of scrap paper, fussy cut so I could use this to mask the stamped area on the card base, before adding the background.
The favorite old french script, bullrushes from Stampers Anonymous and along the bottom a Hobbycraft stamp with some grasses. The colours used were Distress inks, Peeled paint, Antique linen and  Vintage photo.  The main image was water coloured.

Thank you for taking time to stop by, I realy appreciate the comments you leave

February's Calendar page

Back to my comfort zone and sharing with you  the calendar  page I made for February using Graphic 45 papers.

Starting with the base, it  was random stamped with a french script stamp.
The roses were heat embossed, with pink and red powders.
Sorry cannot name these items as they are all very old  stash.
As you can see it is all looking rather pale at this stage and needs a bit of a colour boost. Out with the distress inks and the blending foam, Vintage photo,  Spiced marmalade, a touch of  Brushed corduroy.  I just kept going until I like the result.

The images  and cut outs were  shaded with the same inks, all the additions came from my stash.

Journal 52 Abstract Art

Our prompt for Week 5 at Journal 52 was Abstract Art, together with some pointers and ideas. Oh boy did I need them and more. I thought last week was out of my comfort zone, but this week had me in a right Tizz.

This is my second attempt with blocks of colour.
Some free hand, I used  jar tops for  the round shapes.

The on on the right is my first effort.
All I can say is that you can have a good chuckle, this is for sure not my style.

But I am enjoying the challenge.

Thank you for stopping by, I am not usually so messy.

Out of the shadows

The folk at Tag Along, are asking us to use our favorite techniques this week. I have to say  that I have many favorites  so this time I have gone for the inky option and using up some left over bits and pieces. A vague homage to Tim Holz with the grungy colours, and distress inks. Walnut stain,  Vintage Photo and a smidge of Brushed corduroy. With  a scrap of his material down the side,  one of his background checkered stamps , ticket and some fussy cut leaf stamps.

One of the layers is a piece of embossed card, a new one from Sheena Douglas.

The image of the lady  [a Chapelroad Art stamp] was stamped on tissue and like many things was lying around on my desk waiting to be used
I even coloured the scrap of lace with Vintage photo, getting more on me than on the lace.
I had for once too much sun to get a decent photo, so I opted to call this 'out of the shadows' as it fitted the words quite nicely.

Artful Times challenge is also to make a tag, ATC or card in Tim Holtz  style. I hope this will fit the bill there as well.

Thank you for taking time to call by, I realy appreciate your comments.

Sweet Sentiments

We are going all romantic over at Sugar Creek Hollow for this next challenge, our New challenge theme is 'Love and Adore'.
Please pop over for all the details.
This time I have made a heart shaped hanging.

First of all I drew my heart shape  once on plain card, before using it as a shape stencil for some pretty paper. This was given the random stamp treatment using paler inks, the blot it first method.
Next came the fiddly bit of fixing the lace between the two shapes.
Then to the part  I like best adding the focal images, in this case  from Graphic 45 Sweet Sentiments pack.
Some flowers, mesh  and lace  trimmings, to finish it off.

Thank you for stopping by to take a look, I do so appreciate you calling.
