Freedom is a state of mind.

A journal page for Art Journal Journey
'favourite poems/quotes'.
I think I am just in time before there is a new theme.
A colour washed background with acrylic paints.
Townscape stamps [Stampers Anonymous].
The girl with the balloons  a stencil?? I also used  a mixture of stamps and stencils.
You can tell holiday mode set in with this page, not a thought of the dreaded washing and ironing I will have to face getting back home tomorrow.
Hence the quote......
Freedom is a state of mind.

Thank you for stopping by, the comments you leave me are always appreciated.

Way Back When for TioT's

'1960's/  Retro/  Colours/  Pop Art  and  Fashion,'
is the theme for the next Try it on Tuesdays challenge, loads of choice this time.
Another theme with lots of choice.
I made this card in a digital program on my computer and some free images found  with a Google search.
Not so sure about the peach coloured  background layers,  but I liked the images from the early 60's.
Please pop over to see what the TioT's gang made and join the fun.

Thank you for taking time to stop by, I always appreciate the comments you leave.

Jacks and their lady friends

Another 'Journal 52',  page to share with you which I have already posted on J52 .
The prompt for Week 15  was 'Cards'.
I had a very ink  sprayed mop up page with  a bit of glass bead stenciling  in parts just ready to use.
We are away quite often in our caravan and  sometimes play card games   in the evenings.
The ones I used here were rather old, frayed and tatty and we needed a new set.
They had a coat of gesso, a bit  swishing over with a green ink pad.  I stamped the Ladies on tissue  before pasting to the card and  fussy cut out a couple of my favourite birds.
All the stamps used were Tim Holtz, Stampers Anonymous.

Thank you for taking time to pop in to see me.  I  always appreciate the comments you leave.

Life without Dreams for AJJ

Hello from a sunny Yorkshire,
having a lazy time   away but still finding time to craft.
A page made from scraps of paper,  stencils, grunge paste  a variety  of green paints, new stamps [Crafters Companion] which were water coloured. A total mixture,  but fun to do.
Not sure where the quote came from......
'A life without dreams is just a life'................
but I think it matched the page.
Poems and Quotes.

The Owl and the pussy Cat

Another journal page made with Art Journal Journey in mind,
the theme for April is favourite  Poems/Quotes.
So I chose The Owl and the Pussy Cat by Edward Lear.
I think many folk will know this one.
The base colours were already there from mopping up, I tried  drawing  the boat then cut it out. Its an odd shape, but I am no artist. if it doesn't come on a rubber stamp,  a freebie from  net,  or magazine cutting I'm sunk. But I feel journaling is to enjoy, so hey this is my version of the 'pea-green boat'..
I did use  a sunburst stencil and a bit of freehand filling in.
The owl stamp from Stampendous and the Cat from Stampers Anonymous.
I may not be able to visit you all as often, as we are currently off in caravan-land,
enjoying some Yorkshire sunshine, but as you can see  my journal was packed with the craft goodies.

Thank you for stopping by the comments you leave for me are always appreciated.

Look and you will see

Sharing another digital page today, made with Art Journal Journey in mind.
April's theme is favourite Poem or Quote.
Lots of the images used came from My Craft Studio programs, which as a beginner to digital I am finding easy to work with. The mice and parrot I found here.
I also have stored many images from various free sources over time, you know the kind I mean, Oh!  I like that, its free, and it might be useful in future, then it never  surfaces for ages.
I spent hours the other day assembling them into one place, I do wish I had noted where I found them so I could give credit, this will be done with all my future saves.
This is the first of a few scheduled posts, so I hope it publishes.
Thank you for stopping by today, hope you have a good weekend.

See beyond the imperfections for AJJ

Three sassy gals out for a stroll, I just wonder what they could be talking about.
The quote I added  is from  a Dylusions  stamp set

"Being happy doesn't mean everything is perfect
It means you decide to see beyond the imperfections"

Well don't look to close at the background it has had a bit of everything thrown at it. Brusho's, spray ink, stencils and grunge paste to name a few. The stamps are Stampers Anonymous.
Favourite Poems and Quotes, there are some fantastic inspirational pieces to see over there.

Thank you for taking time to stop by, I always appreciate the comments you leave for me.

New Beginnings at TioT's

'New Beginnings'
is the new challenge theme over at Try it on Tuesdays.
Now that doesn't just mean babies, new homes, weddings, jobs, etc. etc .etc.
and as always what you make is up to yourselves.
I hope you will pop over and see how the team all used this theme, the examples are all fantastic.
My card was made with Graphics 45 papers and some trimmings from my stash.
The hardest bit was to get the needle threaded for the buttons.

Thank you for taking time to stop by the comments you leave for me are always appreciated

Life

Can you imaging being given a prompt of 'Artistic Restraint',
well that was what happened in week 9 at Journal 52.  I am so pleased we can go at our own pace at J52  I am on catch up most weeks and blogging my pages  is also very late.
I decided on one colour but using many shades, the same went for my chosen shape.  I did however add some quotes, this page looked so bare. The kind I would flick past when looking through my journal, but with  words, I would stop to read them.

This is another page that will fit the current months theme at Art Journal Journey
Favourite Poems and Quotes.

Thank you for taking time to stop by, the comments you leave for me are always appreciated.

Smell the flowers

Sharing a  journal page today which just happened to fit two of my favourite journaling sites
 Journal 52

The theme at AJJ is Favourite Poems and Quotes
J52's prompt  was Aromatherapy
A painted base, then a variety of stencils, Paper Artsy stamps, small fabric butterfly and a couple of quotes. The quote that I like best is about Taking Time. In our busy lives we seem to rush many hours away without stopping and enjoying the moment.

Thank you for stopping by,  the comments you leave for me are always appreciated.

Warning for AJJ

This is another favourite poem of mine called
'Warning', by Jenny Joseph.
the first couple of lines read....................
When I am old I shall wear purple
With a red hat that doesn't go and doesn't suit me
Another  lines reads...................
'And hoard pens and pencils and beermats and things in boxes.'
I can relate to that one.

I tried my hand at making an all digital page for my journal, with the poem as part of the  background.
I mainly used   My Craft Studio images and  free ones  found on the net.
This took me ages, but I enjoyed the challenge to myself.
I am joining in at Art Journal Journey
where the theme is
Favourite poem/quote.

Thank you for taking time to stop by, the comments you leave for me are always appreciated.

If -----a favourite poem for AJJ

The theme for this month over at Art Journal Journey is Favourite Poem or Quote.

I began this page writng out my one of my favourite poems by Rudyard Kipling   'If.'.
You can just about see it under the inks.
A few swipes over  the page with  a few distress inks, then out with these silhouette stencils and Weathered Wood distress ink.  It was given a spray of diluted ink before I wrote up the last verse of the poem  again, mainly because it is my personal favouite.
We have two sons  and when I read this verse I always think of them

If you can talk with clouds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings-nor loose your common touch
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you
If all men count with you, but none too much
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds of distance to run
Yours is the earth and everything in it
And which is more- you will be a man my son.

The page was meant to be for Journal 52 week  11- Just Write  but it also fits with AJJ.
I wasn't happy with the photos at the time so didn't add it  to my blog,   while it was on my desk I kept going back and added a few phrases and butterflies.
Today is sunny [Thursday] for a change  so I got a better photo.

Hello to my new followers, thank you for joining me on my crafty journey.
Thank you for stopping by today, the comments you leave for me are always appreciated

Magical moments for --Stamps and Stencils.

This is my first project for the new challenge blog
To get us started the theme is  'Anything Goes'.
Its a mixed media challenge and we have to included stamps or stencils or both.
Please pop over here for all the details.

I started out with an 6 x 6 canvas

Stamped out my main image, so I had an idea of where to place things.
Glued down some scrap book pages  etc and  some lace bits

Next some washi tape and  a few coats of  white gesso.
Sorry I am a few photos missing here as I was well into the crafting zone
Stencils  [ Tim Holtz] and grunge paste.  A couple of coats of Fresco chalk paint,
a mix of Snowflake and  Vintage Lace
The main image[ from a Finnabair set] stamped again onto tissue.

A bit of gilding wax over the stenciled parts
and it was ready to add the  flowers , trimmings and butterflies.

Thank you for stopping by to take a look, the comments you leave me are always appreciated.
