Fairy Tales

This week at Sugar Creek Hollow  our  challenge theme is
'Fairy Tales and Nursery Rhymes'. We ask that your project reflects a fairy tale or nursery rhyme using a vintage / shabby chic style.
A Day for Daisies is our sponsor this week and I was lucky to receive this beautiful digi image to use on my card.
Please pop over for all the details and see what we all made.

In my world of make believe, here is Cinders reading  to her animal friend. She adds her hopes and dreams that one day the Prince would leave his castle and come to find her........
We all know how this ends, they live happily ever after.
I painted  the image with water colours, then layered it using a variety of Spellbinders die cuts.
The castle  was  framed from one of the cut out shape left overs.
The base layer and castle, came from the Once upon a Time paper stack. sorry cannot remember the maker.
The trimmings  came from my stash.

Thank you for stopping by to take a look, your comments are always appreciated.

Whats in the box this time.

Can you guess we love cheese in our house. This is another box that has been given a make over.
The new Try it on Tuesdays Challenge is to Recycle It'.
Please pop over to see what we have all been making.

There will be a lot of photos,  so I will keep the explanation as brief as I can.
The box was coated then painted with acrylics, the smeared with gold metalic rub on paste.
The lid I covered with  card, which had been  embossed using a  time  folder, this had the rub over with gold treatment as well

The inside of the box holds a Concertina book.
I used a Spellbinders die cut for the shapes, some of which were cut from the cover of  a Graphics 45 paper stack. This saved the papers  to be used on another day.

On the left you can see the pages of the book.
The stamps I used for some of the images were from Stampers Anonymous and Chocolate Baroque
All the extra shading was Vintage Photo distress ink.
The trimmings were all scraps from my bits box.

Thank you for stopping by to take a look, your comments are always appreciated.

Love, wish and dream

'Paper Piecing is our new Challenge over at Fashionable Stamping Challenges.
Hope you will pop over for all the details, read about the fantastic prize on offer from our sponsor Flonzcraft  and see what we have been making.
I don't often do paper piecing, but it is great fun. For this card I limited the papers I used to 2,
using them for layering blocks  as well as the dress.
The stamps I used are from Creative Expressions by Sam Poole.
First layer was stamped on to an old book page and I highlighted the wings with   distress stickles .
The words I think are Stampers Anonymous, this was edged with  gold Frantage powder.
I used distress inks to stamp the base layer and the shading, Mustard seed and Tumbled glass.

I thank you all for stopping by, your comments are always appreciated.

Wish you were here

Over time I have shared a few photos with you when we have been away in our caravan. For the past ten days we have been in Yorkshire enjoying a 'Spring' break. It threatened snow and finally on Friday it decided we needed a few flurries of the white stuff,
However this was not the end to it and the photo shows us blanketed in the stuff this morning. The warden of the site ploughed the road round the place, but no one has moved anywhere all day. Pretty isn't it..

I will also share with you an Alpha dictionary page made for one of the letters I missed  'C  for card.'.
Made with the few bits I have away with me.
I still manage to get messy even in a small space.

Thank you for stopping by.
Keep safe and warm if you have snow like we do.

An Altered State for SCH

On the left , a  little peep inside this weeks project for Sugar Creek Hollow.

This challenge is called 'An Altered State', we are asking you to alter something in a Shabby Chic/Vintage manner.
Please pop over for all the details and see what we have all been making.
Also welcome our Guest Designer for this week Sandy.

This is  what I decided to alter. A cheese box and very delicious it was too. It was painted a few times with acrylic paint, I use tester pots from  a well known  U.K.   DIY shop.

Most of the card and papers I used were from Hunkydory.
Decoupage on the inside.

The lid,  I covered with a floral paper.
Lace trimmings etc  and a Happy Birthday topper.
This was not  easy to photogragh, as the gold edges reflected the light.

So if I haven't bored you with all the pictures, this is the last one, an alternative  Birthday card for for some one special .

I will also be entering these challenges,
Happy Campers Challenge13 add some dimension, inside the box is decoupaged.
Craft Room Challenge -In the Garden-Anything but a card.. hope the scene inside the box fits the theme.

Thank you for stopping by, I always appreciate you calling and I do appreciate your comments.

P is for pair

The next letter in the Alpha/Dictionary challenge over at the Craft Barn is the Letter 'P'.
I chose  the word  'pair'   and to  use two of everything I added to my page.
So  to begin, its two dictionary pages.
The background is lightly coloured with a variety of Pans pastels, I also used a stencil, it seems to have faded into the background on the photos.

Next came the flower stencil, used on both pages and coloured the same way.
On to the small pictures, all from off cuts of Graphics 45 papers.
Again all glued in pairs, daisies, roses, lily of the valley, violets, berries and a couple of roosters.

Once again I got carried away and had to stop myself from adding more.

Thank you for stopping by to take a look your comments are always appreciated.
I apologise for not getting to visit  everyone , internet connection not so good where we are at the moment.

Friendship

I am lucky to be hosting this weeks Challenge over at Craftycardmakers.

My DT friends have made some wonderful examples, please pop over to take a look .

We also have two sponsors for this challenge  Saturated Canary and Sir Stampalot
both offering generous prizes for our winners. All the details can be found here

I used a Crafty Individuals stamp painted with watercolours for my main focus. It is layered up on a variety of papers. The die cut labels are edged ramdomly with vintage gold Frantage embossing powder, they are  also shaded with victorian velvet distress ink.
The word label reads-- true friendship needs no words.

Thank you for stopping by. I always appreciate your comments.

Man

It has been ages since I had a messy day, I have also been wanting to join in the Alpha challenge over at
The Craft Barn.  This week it is the letter M [Ma-Me]
I always, blot out my stamps,  ink pads and stencils in my workout book  so the base was already there.
I chose the word 'Man'.
I have added the pages from the dictionary, covered with gesso then random stamped up. The number mask had been used for another project so after a spritz of water it was ready to go.

The stamps are from numerous makers including Indigo Blu, Chocolate Baroque and Stampers Anonymous.

I was too late to enter the last challenge which was the letter H [home]  so will show it to you now. I do hope to catch up on the ones I missed.

Thank you for stopping by, your comments are always appreciated.

Easter Parade

'Hats and Easter Bonnets'  is the new challenge over at Try it on Tuesdays. You will guess  that we would like to see 'hats ' somewhere on your entry.
So Easter is fast looming I have made a card.   This image that I have called 'The Easter Parade' in my title, it  shows this family of  chicks in their best hats. The image came I think from Free Vintage Digital Stamps.  I have collected many freebies over time  by searching the net and thank the folk who kindly share their resources. The additions and papers came from my stash.
I hope you will pop over to TioT's for all the details and see what we have been making,

Thank you for taking time to stop by, your comments are always appreciated.

The base layers of both sides were put through an embossing folder, then shaded with Tumbled glass and Salty ocean distress inks
The Queen of Hearts is a Crafty Individuals stamp, slightly shaded with Victorian Velvet  distress ink.

The reverse side is stamped up with a Love Poem an old Inca stamp.

Just for You

We have a Photo Inspiration theme for our New Challenge over at
Sugar Creek Hollow this week.  Please pop over for all the details and see what we have all been making.  I do hope you will be inspired to join us, remember our style is Vintage/Shabby Chic.

At first I wondered what I had in my stash that would represent this lovely vase of flowers.
A good rummage brought a selection of papers and trimming  to the top of the pile on my desk.
Then I found this beautiful topper  I think by  Kanban .
So this is the finished card, the extra shadings were Bundled sage and Dusty concord distress inks.

Thank you for stopping by I always appreciate your comments.

I used Kanban papers for layering on this card.
The clock is an Alterations die cut, cut from black card then coated with Tarnished Brass distress ink.
I roughly  went over it with sandpaper, to shabby the look.
The centre piece is from Crafty-emblies.
All the other shading is walnut stain and tea dye distress inks
The only stamp I used is the 'Pointing Finger', a mini blueprint stamp from Stampers Anonymous.

Crafty-emblies have a challenge that I think is Anything goes. So I will link this up here.
