Where I love to spend summer. for AJJ

Summertime Love  at
are hosting and inspiring us this month.

When I read your  last blog posts Elizabeth,
I just had to take a photo of the caravan  to share.
Another digital page from me,  from a sunny Yorkshire Caravan club site.
We are having a lazy day . the sun is shining, the lap top  computer is fired up
and we have an internet connection. Playtime begin.......

First to share are a couple of photos  taken  just a short walk from the caravan.

Turner liked this view and it is a favourite of ours.

I  was  colouring in this page last night, another more recent caravan pass time as a few pencils and colouring pens as well as a computer are easier to pack for travelling.

We are in woodland and the birds are lovely to listen to
and see if we are lucky.

I am back on the birds and how summer brings more to our shores. So imagination takes me to renting out homes for birds to take a holiday.

Thank you for calling in to see me today.
You are all welcome here.

Digital information can be
found in my side bar.

Mrs Owl goes travelling

I wonder where this wise owl will be going  on her travels today.
.................................

This is an experimental page as wasn't sure what kind of colours would work on the material
As this is a material page in a mixed media journal I was using.  I went very slowly as I only had one chance to see what worked and for sure I wasn't about to bin  the page.
First up some stencils ....... going well so far.
Vintage Photo distress ink, my all time favourite colour.
Yes that added some colour as did some streaks of blue inks, applied with my fingers .
Time to stop while things were going well.
So fussy cut out my coloured owl and she is good to go off on her travels.

Now as its summer and we do have birds who migrate in the summer months.
Many leave the UK for warmer climates and others arrive here from colder parts of the world.
I think birds,  have a love of summer especially when you hear their happy chirping and bird song..
So Mrs Owl will be off to see the folk at.......
  Art Journal Journey
and Bleubeard and Elizabeths theme of Summer Love
.........................even though she is a stay at home bird,
she likes to visit different parts of the country in summer.

Thank you for calling in to see me today.
Like Mrs Owl we are on our travels, I hope I will still be able to call in and see you all.

Mollie the Scarecrow

Can you imagine what stories a Scarecrow might have to tell.
They see birds trying to eat the seeds,  night turn to day and sun    turn to rain ,
when  all the time  they hope the summer sun will shine
and make the crops they are guarding grow.
Mollie my scarecrow, is watching over a field of flowers.

Its a mixed media style page from me, using a coloured in  page.
A journal page, watercoloured using  a piece of cardboard to  to spread the paint, I then added a napkin to give a bit of texture.
There is a bit of stecilling as well down the sides.

I am joining the folk over at
are hosting this months theme....Summer Love.

Thank you for calling in to see me today,
we are on our travels again in the caravan, internet is often not available,
I will be round to visit as soon as I can.

A Tag..... for TioT's

The  new challenge theme today over at
is Tags.
Please pop over for all the details as we can make a tag or add a tag to our projects.
The DT are sharing lots of fantastic ideas.

I started off with a piece of card that had been smooched around in some oxide inks. Next a few stencils, using the same colours.

The stamps I used were from an old Wendy Vecchi set, that haven't seen ink for  many months.

I raided the scraps...  trimming box adding lace, muslin and a few pearls.  It was layered with plain coloured card which in real life is a very dark blue/green not black, but so far this is the best photo I got.

Thank you for calling in to see me today, you are very welcome and your comments are always appreciated.

A day out at Woodhorn

Hello everyone
and friends at..... Bleubeard and Elizabeths

where we are all made welcome with a  drinks related post.
My cuppa is in one of the photos.

For a long while I have been wanting to visit the destination I am sharing with you today
Woodhorn-----It is based in original colliery buildings, where you can see
the winding machines and engines
After our walk around these building a cuppa was calling .

The visitor center was inspired by the monster coal cutting machines there were once used deep underground [top left], It also houses the Northumberland  Archives
Naturally we had to visit the cafe  for a cuppa and a  roll, filled with ham and pease pudding.
The wall in the cafe was covered with super prints, this was as close as I could get as there were quite a few folk around.
The out side children's play area looked good as well[ bottom left].

Now for the real purpose  of our visit. to see the permanent  Art Exhibition by
I added a link  if you were interested in the group of amateur artists.

Photographs were allowed if you didn't use a flash on the camera.
I have to say, it was quite dark in the gallery,  but I think you will get an impression of the work, from the few photos that turned out okay.

One of the pastimes the Pitmen had was keeping racing pigeons , they thought a lot about their birds and spent much of their spare  time in the pigeon houses. The wives had much work to keep everything clean in their  homes,  so they  had a more practical pastime  making proggy mats .
We met the 85 year old lady who spends most of her spare time at the museum making  small art mats using the same methods. [bottom left photo].

I had to end up with selection of photos, please look away if you are easily offended.
After a day in the dark depths of the mine
Wor Jackie  hed  t  tek  is kit off an hev a wesh  doon.
[  this is the local dialect,  the  translation follows]
Our Jack needed to  remove his  dirty  clothes  and take a shower.

Thank you all for calling in to see me.
I have added a few links if you needed further information.

I hope you are all having a lovely day
and for friends in America
 Happy 4th of July.

We love summer

I have recently been using my  colouring in pages, fussy cut  then  added to a journal page.
I couldn't have timed this journal page any better to create,  as  today was  the start of a new theme over at

where Bleubeard and Elizabeth are hosting and gave us the theme.......
Summertime Love
and whoopee this page seems to fit a happy summer mood.. so I can join in straight away.

On the left you can see how it all began. A row of ladies dancing. I made the background using a napkin and stencils

.

I used a piece of a doily as a base for the word panel, but  the words just  didn't fit the way my thoughts were working , so I decided to alter it in my digital computer program.
I am much happier adding quotes etc this way as my hand writing is not so good.

Thank you for calling in to see me today, you are always welcome here.

The Beach

The new challenge theme at
is............ The Beach.

I've had fun and made  a couple of tags.
This first one was made using Graphics 45 papers and a few bits and bobs from my junk box.
Plain cutting and sticking for this tag and no messy fingers,
well apart from spreading the glue with my fingers over the material scraps and twine.

This second one was made in my digital program [notes in my sidebar].

Thank you for taking time to call in to see me today. You are always welcome here.
