Warning for AJJ

This is another favourite poem of mine called
'Warning', by Jenny Joseph.
the first couple of lines read....................
When I am old I shall wear purple
With a red hat that doesn't go and doesn't suit me
Another  lines reads...................
'And hoard pens and pencils and beermats and things in boxes.'
I can relate to that one.

I tried my hand at making an all digital page for my journal, with the poem as part of the  background.
I mainly used   My Craft Studio images and  free ones  found on the net.
This took me ages, but I enjoyed the challenge to myself.
I am joining in at Art Journal Journey
where the theme is
Favourite poem/quote.

Thank you for taking time to stop by, the comments you leave for me are always appreciated.

If -----a favourite poem for AJJ

The theme for this month over at Art Journal Journey is Favourite Poem or Quote.

I began this page writng out my one of my favourite poems by Rudyard Kipling   'If.'.
You can just about see it under the inks.
A few swipes over  the page with  a few distress inks, then out with these silhouette stencils and Weathered Wood distress ink.  It was given a spray of diluted ink before I wrote up the last verse of the poem  again, mainly because it is my personal favouite.
We have two sons  and when I read this verse I always think of them

If you can talk with clouds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings-nor loose your common touch
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you
If all men count with you, but none too much
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds of distance to run
Yours is the earth and everything in it
And which is more- you will be a man my son.

The page was meant to be for Journal 52 week  11- Just Write  but it also fits with AJJ.
I wasn't happy with the photos at the time so didn't add it  to my blog,   while it was on my desk I kept going back and added a few phrases and butterflies.
Today is sunny [Thursday] for a change  so I got a better photo.

Hello to my new followers, thank you for joining me on my crafty journey.
Thank you for stopping by today, the comments you leave for me are always appreciated

Magical moments for --Stamps and Stencils.

This is my first project for the new challenge blog
To get us started the theme is  'Anything Goes'.
Its a mixed media challenge and we have to included stamps or stencils or both.
Please pop over here for all the details.

I started out with an 6 x 6 canvas

Stamped out my main image, so I had an idea of where to place things.
Glued down some scrap book pages  etc and  some lace bits

Next some washi tape and  a few coats of  white gesso.
Sorry I am a few photos missing here as I was well into the crafting zone
Stencils  [ Tim Holtz] and grunge paste.  A couple of coats of Fresco chalk paint,
a mix of Snowflake and  Vintage Lace
The main image[ from a Finnabair set] stamped again onto tissue.

A bit of gilding wax over the stenciled parts
and it was ready to add the  flowers , trimmings and butterflies.

Thank you for stopping by to take a look, the comments you leave me are always appreciated.
