Words from a Lady Driver

There seem be be a few new  interesting Challenge Blogs  at the moment, all with inspiring examples. I made this card after seeing  the theme of 'Your Favourite Vintage', over at  Frilly and Funkie. There is also some super tutorials there as well.
I do love making vintage cards, but never  think I favour a special style when making them. They just sort of happen as they are created.
For the  layers I used Kanban papers and card.
A variety of die cuts, Nestabilities [ layers], Memorybox [swirls] . an EK punch   and Sizzix. [rosette].
The old lace and button were from my stash.
The image and words are from the Diesel Punk stamp set by the Artistic Outpost.

Thank you for stopping by to take a look, I realy appreciate your comments.

Love Art

I have made this tag for the last Colour Challenge at Gingersnap Creations
The 4th Annual Copper, Ginger or Rust Challenge.

The background made with  a Studio490 stamp. I then used Katzelkraft stamps to build the layered stamps, with a bit of masking to get Mona in the right place. I have her behind a piece of a Sizzix die cut Fir tree.
All the shading and colouring is  mainly Rusty Hinge, with a little vintage photo towards the centre.
I used some mica powder to highlight the tree before stamping and embossing another Studio490 stamp
To finish all the tag edges were embossed  with distress powder.

I will also enter this tag in the new Challenge at Simon Says Stamp and Show

Thank you for stopping by, I always appreciate the comments you leave.

Sail away

Steampunk is the new challenge theme over at Sugar Creek Hollow.
Its seems ages since I made a card in this style.
The stamps I used are from Indigo Blu, Stampers Anonymous and Scrolls Work.
One layer was embossed with a cogs and wheels folder and the die cut cogs are Sizzix.
All the shading is Stormy Sky and Tumbled Glass distress inks.

Thank you for stopping by, I realy appreciate your comments.

Easter

Our new Challenge theme over at Try it on Tuesdays is 'Easter', or  'Spring'.
Once again you can make whatever you wish as long as you have used our theme.
We are sponsered by the Craft Barn with a £15 voucher that you could win.
Please pop over for all the details and see what we have been making.

As you can see I have another Easter alteration to show you.
The wooden sign came with some very unrealistic animals on the top, these were kindly sawn off by my OH and I did put them in the bin [shock horror].
I used a matt emulsion undercoat for this one, before using  Dylusions acrylics to paint the sign.
To add  some height I used a couple of shapes made with Sizzix on the edge dies, the  frame and the bird are also Sizzix.
All the stamps  used are Studio 490.
Shading is dried marigold  and rusty hinge distress ink.

The butterflies were made with Clearly for Art  Modeling film, coloured before heating,  its  amazing how you can mould this film.
Challenges entered-
Stampin for the Weekend  Challenge 6 Anything Goes
The Cheerful StampPad   Challenge 39 Anything Goes

Spring is in the Air

'Spring is in the Air', is our new theme over at Fashionable Stamping Challenges. Please pop over and see the fabulous examples  my team mates  have made and find out all the details.

This project just grew out of a simple flower shape on a spring . It has a peg grip between the flower heads that act as a holder.
I then made the card, which is to be posted,  I will use the little flower as a holder for my 'Must do'  notes.
I used Dylusions acrylic paints to colour  the flower, it took a couple of coats as the wood just sucked up the paint. The stamps are by Lavinia and the ticket is Stampers Anonymous. The little chicken has been waiting to be used for ages in one of my bits boxes.

The card background is embossed and coloured with antique linen and shabby shutters distressed inks.
The cute little rabbits are a free stamp from a craft magazine by Indigo Blu.
There is a Spellbinders die cut as one of the layers.

So, on the left is my finished project. If you could see it in real life the flower will bounce to and fro when given a bit of a push..

Song bird.

Knowing when to stop adding to a card is a big issue with me. So I stopped here with this one.
The background was stamped with swirls and the main image is an Inkylicious stamp.
The shading is distress inks, shabby shutters and peeled paint.

A filigree metal embellishment with a ribbon and ribbon flower came from my stash.
I am entering this card  into

The Stampman Challenge- which is a Bingo card/recipe theme
I followed  the bottom line, swirls, metal and ribbon.

This is the first time I have tried this shape and I know it won't be the last.
I used a piece of coloured cardstock for the shape.
A Spellbinders die cut for the first layer.
Cut out flowers from the Shabby Vintage  Flowers CD, adding a few bits and pieces to finish it off.
The sentiment reads, If friends were like flowers, I'd pick you.

Ted

I recently found a Challenge blog called  CD Sunday Challenges.  I have a few craft CD's sitting gathering dust and recently bought some new ones, I think this will give me a push to use them a bit more.
This weeks theme  is 'Spots and Dots. The dotty background layers are from the Sheena Douglas  paint Fusion CD. The other images are all from  Debbie Moore's Shabby Chic Haberdashery CD.
I did shade the edges with distress ink, adding some ribbon and a heart charm to finish.

Thank you for taking time to stop by and leave a comment, I realy appreciate you calling.

Please pop over and see what we have all been making and I hope you will join in.

We have two sponsers  offering with fabulous prizes.

This  is my card using a favourite Paper Artsy stamp for my main image, which I embossed using a sparkly embossing powder. It was shaded with Antique Linen and Tea dye distress inks.
I added a clear embossed stamped clock face , which does look enamelled in real life.
For the gold miri card layer, I used a cogs and wheels embossing folder, then sandpapered over the raised surface to distress it . Adding a small brass clock embellishment and ribbon to finish.

Thank you for stopping by to take a look, I realy appreciate your comments.

Tatty

First of all a Happy Mothering Sunday to all  who are celebrating this special day.

This card has been fun for me to make. I made it with the new challenge over at Sugar Creek Hollow in mind.
Their theme is Layers , in a Shabby  Chic, Vintage or Retro style. For me this look is completely different and I hope it fits in with Retro.
The stamps I used are  Creative Expressions Tatty Button also ones from Stampers Anonymous.
Colouring is watercolours and Spiced Marmalade and Rusty Hinge distress inks.
I used a variety of layers and textures from my stash to complete the card.

Thank you for stopping by to take a look, I realy appreciate your comments.

Thank you card

This weeks challenge at Make my Monday is to make a Mother's Day or Thank you card.
I chose to make the Thank you version  using  elements from my Debbie Moore Shabby Chic CDs.
The result is a fairly quick and easy card, a bit of cutting out and layering, adding a few extras from the stash. Although you can spend ages browsing the pages  as there is so much choice.

Thank you for stopping by, I realy appreciate your comments.

Tag for March

I didn't get February's tag done, but have managed to have a go at the one for March.
What is she talking about I can hear you saying.
Well, instead of the 12 tags of Christmas , Tim Holtz is guiding us through a tag for  each month of the year.
All the details and techniques   can be found here.

I did not have anywhere near all the items he used, but like most crafters, I had a quick search for stuff that might fit the bill.
The butterflies gave me the most problems as I used embossing powder instead of the recommended stuff. Still , I was quite pleased  how they turned out, and with a quick glance it does look a bit like Faux Mosaic.

I will also  be entering this tag  at Gingersnapcreations GC 139 Random Redhead Challenge-Use a Faux Technique.

Thankyou for stopping by, I realy appreciate your comments.

This image is a lovely Stamp by Kanban.
I colour washed the background, letting it dry  before stamping
Then I used my favourite water colour cosmic shimmer paints to colour it.

I would like to say hello to my  new  followers and thank everyone who takes the time to call ,  for  your  kind comments.
I realy appreciate you stopping by.

Leonora

Yesterday I was at a Craft fair where I was lucky to meet  Jill fromThe Stampman and watch her fantastic demonstrations. I also saw her beautiful frames which inspired me to try this small canvas. You can see one of her gorgeous frames here
The base which is about 5 x 7 inches  was given a couple of layers  of gesso.

The corner is layers of tissue, stuck down with  PVA.
Shading on the background is distress inks . I used a key mask which shows up very pale and the rose stamp here.
Then I started to add bits and pieces, some fragments and small beads.
Loads of silver embossing power, which I heated between layers. A metal filigree round and an old earing at its centre.

The stamped  image in the frame is quite old, not sure who by. She is coloured with a pale pink water colour.
The frame is from  Crafty Individuals.

I will be entering this in a couple of challenges.

The Stampman Challenge- The theme  is Vintage
Simon Says Stamp and Show- The theme is Anything goes.

Thank you for stopping by, I realy appreciate your comments.

Daisies

Challenge 17 over at Fashionable Stamping Challenges and we would like  you follow a line from our Bingo Card.
Choose a line, vertical, horizontal or diagonal,  we have had real fun with this one.
Please pop over for all the details and see what we have been making. Remember we like to see your stamping.

Once again I chose to make a small hanging. My line is diagonal, it includes Words, Distressing and Flowers.

After cutting the  heart shape, I used a Sheena Douglas topper to cover the surface.
Then it was lightly coated with cream acrylic paint and when dry shaded with  Antique Linen  with a little stormy sky  distress ink on the edge.
I then went round all  the shape with antique gold heat  embossing powder.
For the daisies I   used  stamps from Sheena's Paint Fusion Daisy set.
These were water coloured and topped with a pearlescent  cosmic shimmer paint, before cutting out.
Much easier this way as you can go over the outlines without spoiling your work.
The words are from a Studio 490 stamp set. Just right for the promises of Spring.

Challenge  21   at Lets Ink It Up  is 'Show us your flowers'. I hope these daisies will fit the theme, the are starting to show their pretty heads everywhere they shouldn't in my garden.

Thank you for stopping by to take a look, I realy appreciate you calling.

Daffodils

A bit late  for this weeks challenge over at Make My Mondays which is Spring Flowers.
This card is made using elements from the Country Diary CD from Joanna Sheene.
Also used  Memory Box die cut for the florish.
I would have liked to use more dimension, but as this will be going in the post and our postage cost in the UK are rising, I need to practise making cards that don't need a  'Large' stamp.

thankyou for stopping by, I realy appreciate you calling.

Meet my Grandparents.

The Chestnut Theme Challenge GS 141 over at Gingersnap Creations is -Granny's Photo Album.
This had me reaching for one of the first scrapbooks I made about 14 years ago, to record our family's history.  Back then it was difficult to get stuff in the UK  to enhance the pages, hence this is a very basic page, but it means a lot to me.

My grandparents were married before the start of World War 1 and he served in the Royal Navy

I am lucky to be the keeper of some of the beautiful cards he sent home to my Gran.
They are also in the Family scrapbook, as you can see they have suffered a bit over the years and like many family items that  are only found by accident many years later.

The beautiful lace on the right is an oval shape when unfolded.
My grandparents lived well into their eighties and am so glad that my two sons are able to remember them both.

Thank you for stopping by I realy appreciate you calling.

Try it on Tuesdays is changing.

Now did the title get you wondering what is happening?
We have some brilliant, talented crafters joining us on the Design Team this week, so a huge welcome from me.
Also, our formula  is changing, lots of new things are happening.
Please pop over to TioT's  for all the details and meet the  our new DT members.
This week they are showing you their favourite  things.

Janet and Michelle also asked us to show you our favourite as well, when we  tell you the news.

I find it hard to have favourites, as each thing I make has its own better points and when finished, things that could have been done better.
So I am including a journal page.
It shows the messy side of me with the backgrounds using up inks.
Stamping which has got to me my first choice when crafting.
Then colouring with watercolours. Oh! then on this page a touch of glitter  the lady.

Thankyou for stopping by and I hope you will join  us at TioT's in the coming weeks.

I made my card using elements from the new Sheena Douglas CD.
The backing papers are beautiful, as are the toppers.
I did add antique linen distress ink to age it a little  and edged  the oval with embossing powder .
A bit of glitter to highlight  the butterfly wings.
The stamped sentiment reads, 'true friendship needs no words', a sentiment I whole heartedly agree with.
Extra flowers came from my stash to finish.

Thankyou for stopping by to take a look, I realy appreciate you calling.

Call me Daisy

I am practising being out of my comfort zone and trying to make a few cute/sweet cards.
Not sure where this is taking me on my craft journey,  as I know I have yet to feel happy about the results.
For this I used a light olive green base card, adding layers of green patterned card, one of these was embossed. A Memory box die cut is behind the large flower
The stamp is a Fairyopolis stamp  from Crafters Companio, coloured with watercolours. The shading is  Forest Moss distress ink.
Challenges entered-
The Stampman Challenges - Colours of Spring.  As this card is shades of green and has some flowers, I was thinking along the lines of new growth and fresh grass.
Saturday Challenge at the Secret Crafters is' Go for Green'.

Day Dreamer

This little LOTV lad is happily relaxing, I just wonder what he is thinking.
Anyway I made this card following the sketch for the new  challenge here at 'Moving along with the Times'.
Its a LOTV topper which I added a bit of extra water colour and some tea dye distress inks.
The stamps on the other shapes  are by Paper Mania and an old  swirly stamp.
The backing paper is Kanban.

This is what both sides of  my March calendar page looks like. Its  for the 4 x 4 inch fat Page monthly swap I am  exchanging with my friend who doesn't blog.
Our theme this time was Mother's Day.

Thankyou for stopping by to take a look, I realy appreciate your comments.
