Cinder-bella

Well here she sits , 'Cinder-bella', waiting for her Prince to come and  take her to the ball.

I had fun making this  for  todays   new  Gingersnap Creations  Inspiration challenge
Random Redhead Challenge-Candelabras, Chandeliers and Candles..

I used  a Debbie Moore CD , 'Twilight Queen' for all of my images and background papers.
The candelabra is a Prima , Shabby Chic embellishment, the fun element was rolling small strips of paper to make the candles, this had to be a labour of love, especially when sticking the edges together so it didn't flatten the shape.
The corners were cut using a Memory Box die.

Thankyou  for stopping by to take a look, I realy appreciate your comments.

Altered Mirror

First of all I must apologise for having to cover the mirror with a piece of card. There were to many reflections  on the day the photo was taken. Also this is what I made to take as a swap. to the 'Geordie Meet' back in September.  I never got round to blogging it then so  when I saw that that our challenge theme at Try it on Tuesdays this week is  'Anything Goes', I hung on a little longer to show it to you.

For once I didn't pick up a stamp, very unusual for me. the mirror was covered using Graphics 45 papers. The edges trimmed with lace and gold coloured binding. It was a Tim Holtz Alteration die for the manequin and flowers from my stash. I hope you will pop over and see what my teamies have been making.  We would love you to join us , maybe like me you have something waiting to be blogged, remember, the choice of what you enter is yours.

Summer

I didn't think I would have time to join in  this week at Just For Fun , the new theme is 'Summer'. Then,  as I was tidying my craft desk  I remembered these pages in my play journal.  Memories of my summer in caravanland.
As usual it would be hard to say how the backgrounds evolved, but  I know this is a Mo Manning stamp. She looks a real charactor doesn't  she.

Adding this page as well,  memories of the days when the wind blows in all directions and  everything flies all over, you  even have to hang on to your  summer skirts.

Thankyou for stopping by to take a look, I realy appreciate your  comments.

Meet me in Paris.

Travelling Around the World, is our new theme over at Fashionable Stamping Challenges, for challenge No 11. So if you could choose anywhere in the world , where would it be.
Pop over and see where we are all heading off to and  get all the details.
Although I have to say that at this time of the year, my choice would be definately be, at home with my loving family and good friends.
You can also get an advanced note about  of our first challenge for 2012

However,  I chose Paris as my destination and with it the memories came flooding back of days long past and many happy holidays in France.
For this card I used stamps by Chocolate Baroque ,Darkroom door and a random stamped background..
The  tag reads 'Secrets Travel fast in Paris',  I enjoyed playing with the shrink plastic again to reduce the size. Colouring used was tumbled glass, tattered rose distress inks and watercolours.
The trimmings are all from my stash.

Thankyou for stopping by, I realy appreciate your comments.

A red bow and a stamp three ways.

Not a very inspiring title but it fits what I have been making.
This tag,  I think is one  the last Christmas items  I will be making this year.
The background is shaded with tumbled glass distress inks, stamped with a  few snowflakes,   before running through the crimper.  Words are from a Hero Arts set and the deer by Stamper Anonymous.
Challenge
The Seasonal theme this week at Make My Monday is  to add a ' Red Bow'.

My next bow is on a Birthday card for a friend.
I was wondering what to make when I saw   the new challenge at Crafty Cardmakers is 'Use it Three Times, to show how versatile a stamp can be.
The rose stamp, is old, well loved and used.
Here are my three ways-
Base layer, random stamping using Adirondak Expresso
Next layer, a resist technique, dusting with  Heirloom Gold Perfect Pearls after stamping from a clear embossing pad.
Topper, heat embossed  with Lava Black embossing powder. Then coloured with watercolour paints.

Again, it was hard to get good photos and I wished I hadn't added a layer of miri to the card. The shadows make it look as if it wasn't layered properly [it is in real life].

Thankyou for stopping by to take a look, I realy appreciate you calling.

Waiting for Santa

Waiting for Santa, a magical time of the year.
I have made this card for  for the new  Supply Challenge over at Gingersnap Creations GS 131.
We are asked to used some wax on   the project.
This is something I am not familiar with using.

Then I remembered a bargain buy of some Seals and Sealing wax in a January Sale. There,  I knew that they would be useful one day.
So my wax addition is a little tree.
The stamp I used is by Crafty Individuals, coloured with watercolours.
One of the layers is covered in snowflakes,  and I used a Martha Stewart punch for the corners.

I will be adding this card to this weeks challenge over at  Winter wonderland, the theme is  Let it snow.

Thankyou for stopping by to take a look, I realy appreciate your comments.

Vintage tag

Not many more days now till the big event, when we all hope that Santa will call and leave us a few crafty goodies under the tree.
Our challenge theme for you  this week, over at Try it on Tuesdays is to make a 'Gift Tag'.
The base of this tag is cut from one of my pre stamped backgrounds, using a variety of stamps.
A piece from an old french book came next, with lovely vintage image that  was in my blog candy package from Valerie.
A Tim Holtz stamped ticket and a sprig of die cut holly are other additions. All shading is tea dye and vintage photo distressed inks.

Challenges
Sugar Creek Hollow 's theme  this week is Vintage Tags.

Just for fun

Something completely different to festive card making.
I have been experimenting in my 'play journal' again.  The background was already coloured and stamped, this was done over time  by blotting stamps  and distress ink.
So I thought it would fit  this weeks seasonal  theme over at Just for Fun  'Spring'.
The birds, mushrooms and flowers were cut from a paper napkin.
Added  few hearts  cut from a piece of scrap paper and added a few words.

Thankyou for stopping by to take a look, I realy appreciate your comments.

Believe

I am in tag making mode for the special family Christmas gifts. Last minute as usual, but as they come to stay with me over the holidays, I have a few days to finish them off.
This tag is made using  Stampers Anonymous stamps, an alterations die cut clock.
The background stamping is snowflakes and pine branches using tumbled glass and bundled sage distress inks. All the shading  is watercolour paints.

.Over at Simon Says Stamp and show some 'Elements of Time'  is this weeks challenge, so I think my clock will fit the theme.
Thankyou for stopping by to take a look, I realy appreciate your comments.

Noel

This hanging ornament isn't very big about 6 x 2 inches.
The shape  hasn't a makers name, the blue is just one coat of acrylics.
I was pleased about that , as it was such a fiddle to get between all the letters.
The letters and stars  were painted with silver acrylic paint, then stamped with a Stampers Anonymous snowflake stamp.
I used a Paper Artsy stamp for Santa's image. There is a sprinkling of glitter over the surfaces, but its a bit hard to see on this photo.

The theme at the  Stampmans Challenge blog  this time to Create an Ornament.

Thankyou for stopping by to take a look, I realy appreciate your comments.

Advent

I know its a few days into Advent but  I can show you this project today.
It was made  for the first Challenge in December over at Gingersnap Creations.
Thankyou all for inviting me to be a Visiting Artist  again this month.
The theme for this week is  'Starry Nights'. GS 130
This started life as a mirror, bought from Ikea. Out came the acrylic tester paint pots for the background, then I had fun smudging on silver paint.
The Advent days  clock is from Tando as are the trees and Santa's sledge .
It took some working out to get the right size numbers for the dial, this is where the old computer came in useful. All the colouring was done with acrylics.
As you can tell the glitter was liberally sprinkled and I added some stars to guide the Sleigh.
Covering  the mirror in the centre  is a  craft paper, printed with   one of my favourite Christmas poems by Clement Clarke Moore, it goes like this,-
Twas the night before Christmas,
When all through the house.
Not a creature was stirring,
Not even a mouse.
This is now hanging in my kitchen, with the pointer moved every morning bringing the 25th ever closer.

Just has a message from Zoechaos about a Winter Festivals challenge over at Tando Creative so I am  posting my callender  here as well.
Thankyou for stopping by to take a look, I realy appreciate your comments.

Once again I used my Holly Alterations die, adding a stamped Tim Holtz ticket.
Please pop over and see what my team mates have been making, and join us this week.

Thankyou for stopping by to take a look, I realy appreciate your comments.

A Winters Day

I have finished my cards, hip hip, hooray.
Over the next days I will be adding  a few more for you to see, I love the run up to Christmas, when everything gets to look so festive.
This winter scene was made using Lindsey Moore stamps. Lots of glitter, some white flower soft on the fence posts and cottage roof. I used watercolours to colour.
The tree is  a Tim Holtz die and the ribbon came from my stash.

Another Christmas card ready to post.
This time I have used navyblue cardstock for  some of the layers but it has shown black on the photo. Again poor light in the north, we have an icy wind, its freezing cold as well.

The main image is a Personal impressions stamp which I heat embossed using white powder, then coloured with watercolours, adding a bit of red  glitter . Finishing with papers and ribbon from my stash.

Book in a box.

Make my Monday's challenge this week is to  ' Make a  box in a Christmas style'.

This little box is shaped like a book and is 2.5 x 3.5  x1 inch in size.
I spent a bit of time tearing decoupatch paper, very theraputic when the computer is in a 'go slow' mode.
Had a load of fun sticking down the small pieces.
Inside , I made a pull out book, it is decorated on both sides, using a variety of stamps,  pictures  etc.   This is the best photo  of many, I hope  it  gives  you an idea of the inside.
It is now parcelled up and ready for posting to a crafty friend, who I cannot persuade to use her blog.

Jusr found the Happy Daze blog's December challenge is gifts and  tags. So the box will pay a visit here as well.

Thankyou card

The last theme for Novembers Challenges over at Gingersnap Creations.
GS 129 'Once in a Blue Moon' , is  make a thankyou card.
My card is for a special friend, and  I even got round to making the box.
The card is layered, using a tree bark folder and a branch which I cut out. My stamp of the Collie Dog is from a Joanna Sheene set.
The stamps used for the rest of the piece are Chocolate Baroque, Artistic Outpost and a few that have long since lost their makers names.
Trimmings are from my stash. Shading is vintage paper, tea dye distress inks and watercolour paints.
This was to have been my last post as November  Visiting Artist  for Gingersnap Creations, but  I was so excited when I was invited  to visit for December as well.

Thankyou for stopping by to take a look, I realy appreciate you calling.

I will be trying to visit all my lovely followers blogs, but I am having a few computer problems, using my OH's laptop at the moment and so missing my big screen.

Desk Tidy?

Alter a Can is the new challenge over at Try it on Tuesdays, once again we are sponsered by the Craft Barn, with a gift voucher for the lucky winner.
The DT have some super examples again, so pop over for all the details.

So this started out as a can of Baked Beans, very delicious on a slice of toast.
I used sticky-back canvas to cover the tin, which had been stamped up using a variety of   Stampers Anonymous and Chocholate Baroque stamps. The trimmings are from my stash.
It is a realy useful container for my scraps of ribbon, lace and petals. Did you notice my title,  'desk tidy', it does help to have an aim, but my desk is always work in progress. I can never find a thing after a tidy-up session.

Thankyou for stopping by to take a look at my Altered Can, your comments are greatly appreciated.

Postcard for Santa

I love to make collage cards, as it is a way to use up the odd pieces of papers.
Starting with a piece of music paper.
Followed by a home made backing paper using Viva stamps.
A small Graphics 45,  left over paper panel.
The only thing new is the stamped postcard by Inkadinkado on top of my stamped french script.
Look close and even the red layers are different shades.
The wooden deer is painted brown, , and the ribbon and bow to finish.
All shading is antique linen and vintage photo distress inks.

Challenges I hope this will fit are-
Just for Fun,  Favourite Shapes
As you can see I couldn't make my mind up between oblongs or squares, but having to pick I would say oblongs.
Craft Your Days Away   Buttons and Bows

First of all , I would like to wish everyone who celebrates this special  day  a  'Happy Thanksgiving'.

I have made this hanging for the Gingersnap Creations Colour challenge.
GS 128, use Yellow, Red and Brown, colours.
The shape started life as a door hanger,  turned on its side and  painted with acrylics.
Words and Recipes etc   are from Tim Holtz's    Seasonal sticker pack.
The watch dangling in the circle is an Artistic Outpost stamp, which I clear embossed a few times.
All the other additions came from my stash.

Honey I shrunk the Plastic.

Wild Card week, so here is the Challenge, its called 'Honey I Shrunk the Plastic'.
Pop over to Try it on Tuesdays , see what my team-mates have made, get the information, then join the fun.
You will have guessed by now that we are asking you to use 'shrink plastic' in some way on  your  piece.
This card is only three and a half inches square. Shading is vintage photo distress inks, my all time favourite way to colour cards.
The layers are pieces of my own random stamped background papers.  These are so useful to have pre-made.
The stamp I used is one of the   Gorjuss girls images, she was coloured before shrinking with permanent ink pens. It is attatched by  a few links so it could  be used on  a key  ring .

Thankyou for stopping by to take a look, I realy appreciate your comments.

Farmyard friends.

Week 3 of the On the Farm Challenges over at Gingersnap Creations.
The inspiration for this week is to come from 'Livestock'.  GC 126

Phew! I thought when I saw this theme, a little panic, what did I have that would suit this challenge,  get the thinking cap on.
Thankgoodness the  trusty Artistic Outpost stamps could be used again , an embossing folder of a tree. Raid the kitchen cupboard  for some seeds to feed the pigs and hens.
Add a few  grasses and trimmings, then colour and shade with watercolours and chalk.
So here is my result, a peaceful farm scene, with happy animals, free to roam.

Thankyou for stopping by to take a look, I realy appreciate your comments.

Well at the moment I can certainly say mine is shades of Brown and Tea dye distress ink comes high on the list.
These cards were both made with a variety of papers including the new Mechanica from Kanban.
The  images, are ones I got from Siobhan at the Craft Retreat when she kindly lent me the stamps to use. Sorry I don't remember the makers.

Remembrance

Sharing a digital picture with you today.  I  had all the images from a M.C.S. disc.

It is my  way to thank  all those brave men and women all over our world, who give their lives, so we can live in 'Peace'.

Christmas cards.

This weeks theme over at Make My Monday is Vintage/Traditional.
I realy need to get more cards made so this is helping to get me motivated.
Someone told me today its only about 6 weeks till Christmas. Help!
The background is a selection of papers pieces , lying on my desk from other projects.
. A Martha Stewart edger punch helped make use of a thin left over strip.
Santa's image is a Paper Artsy stamp shaded with tea dye distress inks.

Other challenge for this card is-
 the Stampman Collage/background collage.

This card is made with paper layers and a ready to use image,  from Lily of the Valley. I bought these at a craft fair in the Spring, they will come in very  useful for quick makes. The tree is an Alterations die cut.

Now this card is about as close to 'cute' as I've made in ages, so I hope it will fit the new Challenge over at C.R.A.F.T. Challenge 128,
which is Cute.

Thankyou for stopping by to take a look. I realy appreciate you calling.

Grow with Love

Week 2 of the 'On the Farm' challenges over at Gingersnap Creations and this time we were asked to use some  'Raffia,' Supply Challenge  GC 126
I knew I had some somewhere,  isn't it amazing what we crafters have,  or save, sure in the thought that one day it might  be useful.
I started  off by plaiting the raffia to make a frame.
Then came the idea of a corn dolly. [ no corn, but still some raffia to use up]. Now I have never made one before and have no idea what they should look like,  so its all experiment.   I hope that if you make these items, you will forgive my very  basic efforts.
The stamps used are from the Artistic Outpost , the farm boy I shaded  with watercolours, I think  he looks a real happy young lad.

Thankyou for stopping by to take a look, I realy appreciate your comments.

Another  Christmas card from me today. The challenge this week at WinterWonderland is to Make your Card Sparkle.
I have just got the new Sizzix lamp  post die  and just had to try it out. It is covered with a sparkly embossing powder to make it glitter a bit.
The stamp is by Inkadinkado, shaded with chalk and watercolours,   my fine  glitter powder was meant to just highlight the snow, but I am covered int he stuff as well.

Farm Fresh

I am absolutely thrilled and honoured to have received and invitation from the  talented, artistic folk over at Gingersnap Creations to be a Visiting Artist for November.  Thankyou so much for the invite, it took me quite a while to get over the excitement, especially having to keep it a secret since August.

This month the  the overall theme is 'On the Farm'.
GS  125      Farm Fresh, is this weeks theme.
For this piece I used ' The Outpost'  set of  stamps by  The Artistic Outpost.
Tim Holz die for  the fir trees, and a Martha Stewart twig punch.  The shading is  tea dye, shabby shutters and  peeled paint  distress inks, I coloured the stamped image with watercolours. At this stage I decided to make a frame, [  this  was starting to make its own agenda ]. Those of you who visit my blog , know I don't do less is more very well.

So into the kitchen  cupboard  to find the pumpkin seeds, which I  had fun sticking down on my homemade frame.   I tried colouring them with mica power first of all but ended up using Copper paint.

Another Christmas card to show you today.
This is for our new Try it on Tuesdays challenge. Its  Card week again, but this time we would like you to show us an interesting 'card shape' instead of the usual square or oblong etc. Please pop over to TioT's  for all the information and see what my team mates have been making.
Once again its an old un-named stamp of a  robin on a branch.
For the wood effect I used a tree bark embossing folder.
The shading is vintage photo disress inks, water colours and  a sprinkle of glitter.

Thankyou for stopping by to take a look, I realy appreciate your comments

Christmas is coming

Winterwonderland's  new challenge is to make a CAS Christmas card this week.
This is not something I find easy, but as Christmas is looming ever nearer, I have given it a go.

The first card  is made with an old favourite stamp, used so many times over the years that the maker's  name has rubbed away.  The second card  has a Butterfly Kisses stamp.
Both were shaded with Vintage photo distress inks, I resisted the urge to add more , but I realy think they look a bit bare.

                                                Happy Halloween Day Everyone.

This is the back and front of   my  Fat Page for the   Blog Buddies Swap  with I sent to Cath.
All the stamps are from Chocolate Baroque.

Thankyou for stopping by, I realy appreciate your comments.

Welcome

Not long now till those witches and warlocks will be  flying the night skies.
Here is my  door sign for this year, wonder who will call?
It was painted with acrylic paints, the witch and the stamps on the following tag are by Chocolate Baroque.

This tag is coloured with black soot and shades of grey watercolour and chalks.
The Colour theme this time at Gingersnap Creations GS 124 is Black and Grey.
I think either one of these would fit the challenge.

Simon Says Stamp and Show also has a One Colour challenge this week, so I hope  my tag will fit this theme  as well.

Thankyou for stopping by to take a look. I realy appreciate your comments.
