AJJ Birds Beasts and Humans

A journal page for Art Journal Journey -Birds Beasts and Humans.
this theme ends on the 28th , wonder what the girls at AJJ are planning for us next month.
This was a page  with a previously  painted  background with some stencilling.
I have added a Dina Wakley  silhouette image , an un- named bird stamp  and a sweet little fussy cut bird that was tucked under a box on a shelf, obviously put there for safe keeping and promptly forgotten. So I thought it needed to see the light of day.
We have just  been watching our Meg dreaming, her paws were moving as if she were running for her favourite ball in  the garden. Hence the quote I used.
We dream,
I know our dog dreams,
I wonder if birds can dream?

Thank you for taking time to stop by, I always appreciate the comments you leave for me.

Just hanging out

Another page for Art Journal Journey  the theme is Birds Beasts and Humans.

This page was mainly created in a computer craft program  and  just for fun,  as life's a bit hectic at the moment.  Isn't is just the thing when you have days of quiet and peace,  then everything happens at once,  you look for even a spare minute to be yourself,  it seems  things needed to have been done yesterday.
This is one of the occasions when crafting becomes a great escape.
The main image is a digi stamp  [ Crafters Companion] of one of Thelwell's cartoon ponies.
This was water coloured and Black soot was the distress ink I used for extra edge  shading.
The  dancing rabbits  enjoying the spectacle were stamped.
The quote came from a Dylusions stamp set.

Thank you for stopping by to take a look, I appreciate all the comments you leave for me.

Alphabet Soup for ATP Exchange

Hi folk our talented team sister Ruth
is hosting the new challenge over at Artist Trading post Exchange.
The theme is  'Alphabet Soup'.
Ruth wants us to use letters or numbers in some way other than a word marking an occasion or anniversary with them. Please pop over to read all the details and see what we all made.

I chose to make a notice pin board for my craft room

The base with the  alphabet was a piece of off cut MDF bought with two others at a craft fair  all for £1. This was glued to mount board and rubbed down with sandpaper. I also used a piece of peeled corrugated card,[ kept in case it might come in useful], it had been painted with white paint and had a bit of stamping.

Next job was to find a few chip board letters and  give them all a thick coat of   White Gesso

The bottles were die cuts Sizzix.

I stamped some flowers on to the jars from a
Paper Artsy Joffy set using Ranger Gold embossing powder.
These were coloured using   Dylusions Fresh lime  ink spray.

The flowers and bird images are also Paper Artsy stamps, coloured with water colour paint and fussy cut out.

Next came the assembly. The base layer was shaded with a squirt of Dylusions  Sweet orange ink spray, spread around with a mop up paper.
Out with the walnut Stain and Vintage Photo Tim Holtz  distress stains, blending  with the same piece of above mentioned paper. The letters got the same treatment.
The gaps where the letters were cut out are good for pinning the notes through to my base.  I left gaps behind the
birds , bottle plates and flowers so notes could be held there as well.

I have highlighted the products I used that are available from the Artist Trading Post, who also sponsor the challenge and offer a £10 store voucher for the challenge winner

Thank you for stopping by to take a look at my pin board,
the comments you leave for me are always appreciated.

Grace -- for TioT's-- 'tic, tac, toe'.

The new challenge theme  at Try it on Tuesdays is a 'Tic Tac Toe'
Please pop over for all the details and see what we all made.

The line I chose to use was --
String--Cardboard--Button.

The base layer is some stripped back corrugated packaging, painted with Gesso and them some cream acrylic paint. A sprinkle of Brusho [brown] spritzed with water.
Followed by some  random areas of Distress Glitter.
The main image, from  Indigo Blu , was also stamped onto a card that had been sprinkled with Brusho in the same way. I used water colours on parts of this as I had a bare patch where the flowers were.
The main flower was made with string.
All the additional shading was Vintage Photo Distress ink.

Thank you for calling by to see what I made,
the gang at TioT's hope you will join us this time.

Elsie's latest beau

Another page for Art Journal Journey's February theme
  of Birds, Beasts and Humans.
It seems Elsie has a new caller bearing gifts of cake and balloons. I wonder if he will steal her heart this Valentines Day.

A painted and  stenciled background, Paper Artsy stamps, Mr Battenburg was cut from an old callender and the cat sitting on the plant pot was from a magazine.

This page  is also my take on the Valentines prompt for Week  7 at Journal 52.

Thank you for taking time to stop  by, the comments you leave for me are always appreciated.

Journal Pages

Another journal page for Art Journal Journey, where the monthly theme is
'Birds beasts and Humans'

Lots of stencils for the background, even a bit of grunge paste to give a little texture to the brickwork.
All the  background colours were either mop ups or distress inks.
I used a stencil with windows, so this page would fit the prompt for week 6
at Journal 52 which was  --'Windows'.
The stamps are Paper Artsy- Lin Brown and Clare Lloyd.
I wonder if Elsie knows where Alfred is, eyeing up birds, by the way he is flapping his wings.

This page is also for Journal 52, week 5
the prompt was Television.
Now I know T.V.'s have their place, but it has to be something I would enjoy before I watch it.
Hence the screen saver quote.

Thank you for stopping by, I realy appreciate the comments you leave for me.

Elsie and Alfred

The theme for February over at Art Journal Journey is
Birds Beasts and Humans. A super theme that can let the imagination run wild.
This inspirational blog has got me hooked on journalling, just wish I had more time.
Lots of old friends for the background stencils  paints, and some new bird stamps from Paper Artsy.

Here we have Elsie saying to  Alfred that she thinks she is being followed.
Alfred, the love of her life's  reply,  was to ask her if she'd seen herself.
Love moves in many different ways at this time of year and beauty  is in the eye of the beholder.
Thank you for taking time to stop by, the comments you leave are always appreciated.

Love is in the Air at ATP Exchange

Its my turn to host the challenge over at the Artist Trading Post Exchange.

As it is coming up to Valentines Day I chose the theme , 'Love is in the Air'.
What does love mean to you, a look, a touch, a word, something that makes your heart happy,  the joy of beginning a new day,  the list can be endless.
This project is a layered piece and as yet I don't know if it will be a card or a hanging
My thoughts  on the theme was that the  love we share  in our lives , can stay  in out heart forever.

On the left are the two base layers. in the early stages. I used a
Tim Holtz Layering Hearts Stencil  and some Paper Artsy Grunge paste on the first layer.
The second layer is splashed and splodged and also has a bit of random staming here ane there, mostly covered with paint.
Colours used were Dylusions Ink Sprays, Bubble Gum pink and
Prima Colour Blooms Cotton Candy and Tea Stain.
This next layer  was made using the Clarity floral heart stencil, again using Grunge Paste for texture, the paler pinks for colouring were mixed using watercolours and dabbed on with a sponge.
Vintage Photo Distress ink applied round the edges, its always to be found on my desk.

The next addition were some stamped images of birds and a quote which all came from the Dina Wakley---Squiggly Birds  set. These were stamped and embossed using Ranger Gold powder, before colouring with Vintage Photo ink and colouring pencils.
The   Love wooden hearts   come in  a boxed set
All the other scraps of materials  etc. came from my stash ,

We are sponsored by the  Artist Trading Post who donate a £10 voucher to our  challenge winner. I have highlighted the products I used that are available  there. It is a dream shop for mixed media and all crafters, both on line and in the bricks and mortar shop.
We hope you will join us at ATP Exchange, please pop over  and see what we all made, and read all the challenge details and requirements.

Thank you for stopping by to see what I made,
all the comments you leave for me are always appreciated.

My Dearest----Add a photo for TioT's

For this new challenge at Try it on Tuesdays we are asking that you add a photo,
it could be a vintage or modern photo, even from a magazine.
My photo is from a set of Found Relatives by Tim Holtz.
The layering papers all come from his Wallflower Paper stack, I did fussy cut around part of the brid so I could tuck under my photo and a couple of the die cuts.
Of course Vintage Photo distress ink was used for extra shading,
together with some bits and pieces from my stash.
Please pop over to see what we have all been making, I do hope will join us and show us your photos.

Thank you for taking time to stop by, i do so appreciated the comments you leave for me.
