Natures Beauty... for TioT's

Natures Beauty
is the new challenge theme over at

Please pop over for all the details and see what we have all been making.

This is my mixed media/hybrid journal page for the theme.

I used my 8 x 8 inch journal and first of all added some stencils.

The little mouse climbing up the poppy stalk is torn from an old calendar page.

I added some shading using  distress oxide  inks and some stamped leaves.

This gave me my mixed media base.
Next it was off to the computer  for the other additions. [Digital information can be found in my sidebar]
I will be adding those  words free hand to my mixed media page, when I get up the courage to go ahead and do it.

Thank you for stopping by,
you are always very welcome here.

Last of the Old and First of the New

My last post of the year is this page for my digital journal.
I have enjoyed my personal journey this past year,
which has taken me into the world of creating art on the computer. But saying that I have never lost my love of getting messy.  So now I can say I have two avenues to follow in this coming year.

This page can only be called my own work in  its later digital stages. It began with the water coloured painted Christmas card my husband made for me.

The idea to use this card came when we had a heavy snow fall here a couple of days ago.  The silence was quite magical and peaceful.
{notes about my digital pages can be found in my sidebar]

So  now for a bit of mess, big style..... to celebrate the start of a New Year
On the right... the messy painted stages ......

Paint, paste, stencil, fussy cutting, ending up with my  hands a rather  fetching colour of blue and green.

The words were computer generated.

Thank you for following me on my crafty journey this past year.
I very much appreciate the time you take to call in  to see me .

I hope you all have a wonderful creative, happy and peaceful New Year.

Happy New Year.

Happy New Year.
This is a last journal  page from me for this months challenge theme ....
Lets Celebrate.... set by Sheila over at

The page began with a pieces of striped  coloured tissue, stuck to a random  coloured, background page.
I then fussy  cut out some bottles and glasses from a free supermarket magazine. A bit more colouring with oxide inks to fill a few white spaces.
It was then taken into the digital computer program I use for the extra details to be added.

This page also fits these other challenges. so I will also join the folk at ...

Moo-Mania and More
where the theme is....
Welcome.......Somebody/Something/The New Year
and

Take a Word
This weeks theme is....... Celebrate

Thank you for calling in to see me today, your visit is always appreciated
and you are always welcome here.

Stay warm and party.

This will  be my last page this month for Chris's theme of
101 Ways to Keep Warm

The animals are having a party today.

They  just need yummy things to eat. perhaps a drink, although they would prefer a glass of water.
But best of all, they   feel a warm glow inside as they spend happy times in each others company.

On the left is how the page looked in its early stages.
The  base is water coloured. The animals were fussy  cut from an old calendar.
I also added a few areas of stencilling.

The dog did have the glass balanced on its head and I thought it would be fun to have ' Bird-cake'   trying to get a sip of the wine..... 'Duck-cup',
was not at all impressed with this  and was happy with the cream cake.
I added the party hats, bunting and words in the digital program I use. [notes in my sidebar].

Thank you for calling in to see me today, you are always welcome here.

Don't stand still and keep warm for AJJ

Another  journal page for Chris's theme of
101 ways to keep warm....over at

On the left is a couple of photos
 of how the page began.

I found the picture of the children walking through the snow in an old magazine. Yes I do have a large pile of old papers and magazines, that I really should recycle, but the hoarder in me just lets the pile grow taller.
I stuck the torn picture into my journal on a watercoloured base layer.
Then I added  a thick coating of crackle paste and let it dry to see what happened.

The last stage was in the computer program I use [notes in my sidebar].

I hope you are all keeping warm today, its very cold here in the UK .

Thank you for stopping by,
you are always welcome here.

Comfort food for cold days

A mixed media /hybrid page today for Chris's theme of
101 ways to keep warm over at

This page is in my 8x8 inch journal.
Water colour base, a fussy cut picture from a magazine with  a girl in her thick winter jumper warming her hands on a mug of soup.
I have to admit I love a mug of soup on cold winter days. There were some scraps of music paper added , next an  embossed stencil area , which  when it dried out  I smeared it  with gilding wax.

I added the snowflakes and the words  in the computer program I use. [notes in my sidebar].
I know its still supposed to be autumn, but forgive me for using a winter quote, it seemed just right for this page.

Happy Thanksgiving to all my blog friends who are celebrating  today, I hope you have a special and happy day.

Autumn

Today I am sharing  this mixed media/hybrid journal page.

It started off with a watercolour wash and some  ducks enjoying themselves, they came  from a torn napkin.

I was able to change the colours to autumn tones,  move them closer together
and add some extra details in the digital program I use [see my side bar].

It was a fun page to alter and I did try a few ideas I had  buzzing in my head,
maybe the ducks had been  frightened by witches on this Halloween night.
But as I love animals, decided they could have fun on  this  autumn evening and play at the bottom of the garden in the pumpkin patch.

Thank you for calling in to see me today.
You are very welcome here.

Colour me Happy for AJJ

My last page for September at
Art Journal Journey

where I have been hosting this months theme of.....Colour in my World.

First of all  I want to thank everyone for their support this month and for all the Fabulous journal pages I have seen when I called in to your blogs.

I would also  like to say a  thank you to....
 Susi
for asking me to   host  this past month at AJJ
It is one of the friendliest, inspirational  and supportive blogs in Blogland.

So how did this last page begin.....
One of the  material pages in my mixed media journal

I shaded with distress inks then added some raised  stenciled. embossed areas, Don't think I will try this again in this book as the material
 all puckered up.

A fussy cut out woman from a pre -printed page was the next addition. I changed the word banner she was holding with some added digital images.

She may have been learning to fly, but I have spent the last month learning that, maybe,  I like  brighter  colours more  than I thought I did at the beginning of the month.

Tomorrow at Art Journal Journey
the new theme for October will be announced.
So, I  wait in anticipation to read what it will be and call in  to say hello to the new host.

Thank you for calling in to see me  today,
 your comments are always appreciated.

Colour your home for AJJ

Today the -- 'Colours in my World ' -- are green and orange.

I painted the base of my journal page with shades of green,  before adding pieces of the napkin. and some stencils.
The napkin had lovely paler shades as you can see, but after sticking it  to the page,
the colour changed  looking  much brighter, taking up the greens that I had used underneath.
Note to self,  wet glues and water colour paints blend very easily with each other on tissue type papers.
This made me look around my home to see the colours , that because I see them every day, they get taken for granted.  Colours are not  always  what matter most, it the love and laughter shared with family and friends
 that colour my home.

Thank you for visiting with me today,
you are always welcome here.

True Colours for AJJ

I couldn't decide which  ''Colour in my World '' to choose today
for my Art Journal Journey page

So its a collage using  paler  colours  tones ,
 papers, some Jane Davenport snippets
washi tape. stencils,
with raised embossing.
Distress oxide was my colouring medium, with a highlight of gilding wax.
I had no plan in my head,  but  paper glue and a pair of scissors was a good starting point..
The page you see on  the right ended  up with a few digital additions after I had taken the photo.

Thank you for visiting me today and for all your support and fabulous entries to Art Journal Journey this month.

Lily for AJJ

Hello I'm Lily and I love colours.
I  like bright colours and never worry if they don't go together, I am  just me...... Lily
This is my page today for
Art Journal Journey
 and my theme choice of
Colour in my World
A fun mixed media/ hybrid  page from me today, to use up some scraps
that were lying around my desk and.......

..........this colouring page.
I was pleased to have found the Colouring Books published by Stampinton but it seems that they have now disappeared from the stores
They  take  all kinds of colouring mediums including watercolours as well pens and inks as they were printed on good quality paper.
You can see I fussy cut Lily out and stuck her onto a  messy inky background. Words were computer generated.

Thank you for calling in today and for the comments you leave me, which are always appreciated.

My name is Red for AJJ

A mixed media journal page today for
for..... ' Colour in my World'..... this months theme
My colour choice today is Red.

I used an already printed out base paper from a Jane Davenport paper stack.
No fussy cutting this time. It fitted into my journal with no cutting needed.
I added some stencils plain inked and some embossed, which I highlighted with gilding wax.

On an internet search looking for words to describe' Red',
I found these ones that  relate to  feelings.... passion.....energy....stability...its also supposed to increase physical energy and stamina.
I think I will pass on a few of these feelings for red
and stick to the these two well known  opposites
 of love and anger.

Thank you for calling in today to see which colour is in my world today.

Chocolate, love and tea.

Today's colours are happy ones,
especially when  my fussy cut out girl has a tray of chocolates to share.
The colours are mainly shades of red ,  colours that also  can relate to being loved.
So these are the 'Colours in my World'  today for
Art Journal Journey

The base layers are stencils, paper napkins and a few splashes of colours.
I also added a scrap of material and saved it from ending up in  the bits box , never to see the light of day for another long period if time.
The clock die cut was painted red. I used a brad to add the pointers,  that way it can be whatever time in the day I choose.

Now hello to  the folk calling in from
 Bleubeard and Elizabeths

where every Tuesday we are made very welcome with a drinks related post

I am having my usual type  of brew today.
I related to the second part of the words on the cup today....  I am tired.
All down to a family get together yesterday, with husband in charge of the kitchen, me eating  far to much food and drinking  a couple of glasses of wine.
Happy Tea  Day wishes to you all.

I like colourful stuff

These are the.... 'Colours in My World....... today for
Art Journal Journey

Meet Fred and Alex and some how they have wandered
 into a  page  of colour.
Don't get bright idea's Fred. I'm happy with the colours I am wearing today, said Alex.
Just tell your friends to keep those paint brushes away from me.

These images were stamped and fussy cut to add to the page.

Which colour would you choose to be today
I couldn't make my mind up,  so  today is a mixed media/hybrid,  throw every colour on it page, in my 8 x 8 inch   journal

The base is a coloured napkin [Jane Davenport]
I did try to tone the brightness down a bit with some white gesso.

I also added a few pieces of washi tape.

The words and other images  were computer generated, in the digital program I use.
 [notes in my side bar]

Thank you for calling in to see me, on one of my more  colourful days,

Its a Green day ... for AJJ

I was in  the mood to use shades of green today  to....
Colour in my world..... my theme choice at.....
 Art Journal Journey

I have no idea why I wanted to use green shades, but you will notice a bit of blue was also added.
Perhaps because  the view from my window today is blue skies and green fields, after a few grey days here..even the birds were singing this morning.

Another mixed media  page to share today, with only the words being computer generated.

These are the photos showing how this all began.
A bit of fussy cutting of the coloured in,  bird.
The base layer is linen.
I was thrilled to get this journal book [Ranger] as a gift a while ago, it has a wonderful assortment of pages from  papers to materials.
Pieces of a torn napkin were added,
stencils to add a bit of raised texture, watercolour paints and some highlights using gilding wax .
Not forgetting a bit of random stamping.

This was a fun page to create, I hope you are all having fun with colours this month,
I am really enjoying seeing your colour  choices  over at Art journal journey.

Thank you for stopping by, your visit is always appreciated here.

What colour is your brew today.

Today's 'Colours in my world'......
are beige and brown  or maybe coffee and cream.
To me these are not dull shades,
especially when I can relate them to a favourite drink.
My  tea would usually have milk , coffee would need  cream and a sprinkle of chocolate,
 but never  sugar,
I wonder  what  would be the colour of your   drink today?

I am also saying hello to friends over at

where T stands for Tuesday and we are all welcome with a tea related post.

My tea cups are all stacked and the kettle has just boiled .
The base layers of this page are mainly stencils coloured with distress oxides.
Die cut cups and saucers, material scraps and a napkin. There were a few digital additions, the words and sugar lumps.

This is my cup of choice today.
Earl Grey, so no milk addded to this cuppa.
As you can see I was working on the computer, editing my photos for the page.

Thank you for calling in  to see me.
Happy T day everyone.
