Lily for AJJ

Hello I'm Lily and I love colours.
I  like bright colours and never worry if they don't go together, I am  just me...... Lily
This is my page today for
Art Journal Journey
 and my theme choice of
Colour in my World
A fun mixed media/ hybrid  page from me today, to use up some scraps
that were lying around my desk and.......

..........this colouring page.
I was pleased to have found the Colouring Books published by Stampinton but it seems that they have now disappeared from the stores
They  take  all kinds of colouring mediums including watercolours as well pens and inks as they were printed on good quality paper.
You can see I fussy cut Lily out and stuck her onto a  messy inky background. Words were computer generated.

Thank you for calling in today and for the comments you leave me, which are always appreciated.

Its a Green day ... for AJJ

I was in  the mood to use shades of green today  to....
Colour in my world..... my theme choice at.....
 Art Journal Journey

I have no idea why I wanted to use green shades, but you will notice a bit of blue was also added.
Perhaps because  the view from my window today is blue skies and green fields, after a few grey days here..even the birds were singing this morning.

Another mixed media  page to share today, with only the words being computer generated.

These are the photos showing how this all began.
A bit of fussy cutting of the coloured in,  bird.
The base layer is linen.
I was thrilled to get this journal book [Ranger] as a gift a while ago, it has a wonderful assortment of pages from  papers to materials.
Pieces of a torn napkin were added,
stencils to add a bit of raised texture, watercolour paints and some highlights using gilding wax .
Not forgetting a bit of random stamping.

This was a fun page to create, I hope you are all having fun with colours this month,
I am really enjoying seeing your colour  choices  over at Art journal journey.

Thank you for stopping by, your visit is always appreciated here.

Colour in my world ..... for Art Journal Journey

Oops I wonder who stole her colour.
Well,   is was not me ........

Exciting news to share today,
I am thrilled to have been asked by Susi to host September's  theme over at
  Art Journal Journey

The theme I have chosen is.......
Colour in my World.

Colour is all around us,
we have favourite colours,..........  colours that perhaps change the way we feel,................
colours we favour using when we create our art. So this month I hope you will enjoy using colour and share it with all the lovely folk  at Art Journal Journey.
. I am looking forward to seeing  the colour in your world this month.

My first page started with the colouring in page
you see on the left

I liked the quote on this page..
"Closed my eyes for a second
and someone stole all my colour."

The scissors are getting used quite a bit doing the fussy cutting as well. The background is material and I  used a stencil to add a little more background colour.
The words I added were computer generated.

Continuing with my digital
experiments, I decided to change the colours  of the original page . These are for sure brighter colours than I would   usually use. But, for me this month is going to be all about colours.
However, I'm sure many of my favourite shades will still be used.

So, get out your  paint, crayons, pencils, inks,   whatever products, styles  etc  you use,    add   some colour to  your  journal pages and have fun.

Thank you for calling in today.
You are all very welcome here.

Think Positive

A hybrid page today that  has taken me days to create.

I found this colouring in book in an outlet shop at a bargain  price I couldn't walk past,
 when I read the title.
I couldn't wait to try a page. That was two weeks ago,   but life sort of overtook me and other things have had to take priority.

Crafting went to the bottom of my to do list.

But I do hope Picasso won't be to offended  with
my alterations to his work.

Fast forward  to this past weekend  and I have made some progress.
I did have a base layer in a journal waiting to be used.
It was a colour mop base, random stamping and embossing.

I had always  intended to cut out the Harlequin figure and have a play in the digital program I use.

I am calling in to see friends at

where we are always made welcome with a tea related post.
Folk I can assure you I have had many more cups of my favourite brew these past  days.
I'm nearly floating in the stuff.
Our eldest son was an emergency admission to  hospital,
we have   had a number of  worrying days  recently.

This is my cuppa of the week, the photo  taken when I was into making background pages I could use for mixed media/hybrid pages.

I will also pop over and join the folk at

and Jo's super theme for the month
Poetry in Motion, where it can be a poem, quote or  saying  that gives us inspiration.
Sorry Jo I haven't been able to make as many pages for your great theme as I would have liked to,
I have made this quote a mantra  recently. I am thinking positive thoughts.

Happy T day wishes to you all.

We love summer holidays

Can you remember what it felt like when  school holidays came around
and we knew we had about 6 weeks freedom to enjoy our summer holidays.
The sun always seemed to shine back then  and we were happy that every day was a play day.
Now these two kids really  look happy playing,
the things I most remember were staying with my grandparents in their country bungalow.
The sun always seemed to shine I helped my grandfather around the garden and  read lots of books.
I wonder what you loved about the summer.

So this is how my hybrid/mixed media  page began.
Guess what.... a colouring in page came first.
I do have many of these pages  to use, as these days I only take my lap top in the hope we get internet reception and some pencils and inks., when we go off in the caravan

I fussy cut out the heart and flowers before we came away and stuck it to this journal page which I  had  added  a paper napkin with hearts ,  a little random word stamping, stencils and shading with oxide inks.
A photo taken and it was good to use.

I will be sharing this page  over to
  Art Journal Journey,

Where Bleubeard and Elizabeth
are hosting this months theme of.....
Summertime Love.

.....................................
I will also call in and join the folk at
Take a word
where the theme this week is........Hearts.
.....................................

Now a reminder that there is still nearly a week
to join in at Try it on Tuesday's , where the current
the theme is   TAGS .
I have created this digital tag as I am so inspired with the lovely rural scenery
close by to where we are staying.

Thank you for calling in to see me today, your visit is always appreciated.

Mrs Owl goes travelling

I wonder where this wise owl will be going  on her travels today.
.................................

This is an experimental page as wasn't sure what kind of colours would work on the material
As this is a material page in a mixed media journal I was using.  I went very slowly as I only had one chance to see what worked and for sure I wasn't about to bin  the page.
First up some stencils ....... going well so far.
Vintage Photo distress ink, my all time favourite colour.
Yes that added some colour as did some streaks of blue inks, applied with my fingers .
Time to stop while things were going well.
So fussy cut out my coloured owl and she is good to go off on her travels.

Now as its summer and we do have birds who migrate in the summer months.
Many leave the UK for warmer climates and others arrive here from colder parts of the world.
I think birds,  have a love of summer especially when you hear their happy chirping and bird song..
So Mrs Owl will be off to see the folk at.......
  Art Journal Journey
and Bleubeard and Elizabeths theme of Summer Love
.........................even though she is a stay at home bird,
she likes to visit different parts of the country in summer.

Thank you for calling in to see me today.
Like Mrs Owl we are on our travels, I hope I will still be able to call in and see you all.

We love summer

I have recently been using my  colouring in pages, fussy cut  then  added to a journal page.
I couldn't have timed this journal page any better to create,  as  today was  the start of a new theme over at

where Bleubeard and Elizabeth are hosting and gave us the theme.......
Summertime Love
and whoopee this page seems to fit a happy summer mood.. so I can join in straight away.

On the left you can see how it all began. A row of ladies dancing. I made the background using a napkin and stencils

.

I used a piece of a doily as a base for the word panel, but  the words just  didn't fit the way my thoughts were working , so I decided to alter it in my digital computer program.
I am much happier adding quotes etc this way as my hand writing is not so good.

Thank you for calling in to see me today, you are always welcome here.

Recycling colouring pages.

As I said in an earlier  post I am on a mission to use  some of my ' colouring in', pages
and get them into a journal. .I think you may remember this,
it had a digital make over  last last September.

As you can see I fussy cut the main image and added her to an inked and stencilled background.
She still looks quite a gal, but I prefer her against the slightly  calmer background.

''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''

More fussy cutting for this page as well.

The original page on the left and the background I created for it in the journal on the right.

This also had a digital make over last year  here.

I think I got good value  with these pages, now they are finally settled and this is for sure their last outing.

Thank you for calling in today, your visit is very much appreciated.

Different is beautiful.

I have a mixed media page to share today.
While we are away in the caravan I spend some time colouring in and  have a number of pages that could be used up instead of sitting in a book
. So I have made a start and promised myself to create more.

On the left is the original page.
I fussy cut out the bird and branch.
The base was  water coloured and stenciled
I did add a bit more shading to the bird,  with blue oxide ink, once I had it stuck down onto the background I used. The soft greens just seemed to disappear into the page.

The words were computer generated, the little bird is a digital image.

Thank you for calling in to see me today, you are always welcome here.

Colouring in on a rainy day

Another journal page for

 and Elizabeth's theme of ,,,,
Back to school.

A fun digital page,  remembering one of the phrases I often said to my boys when they went off to infants school, all those years ago..... be sure you listen to the teacher and be good.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

We are still in the caravan and have some internet today, so am able to add this post,
My crafting stash for this journey was the Lap top computer, colouring book,  pencils and pens.
Just enough to go in a small drawer, not one of the larger cupboards I usually take over.

Location....Strid Wood.... site near Bolton Abbey....Yorkshire.

We had a neighbour over the weekend.
who liked to feed the birds.
This duck had us laughing. at its efforts
to land on the bird table for the bread and grain.
Even Meg barking at it, didn't get it to move off.
The greedy thing could hardly fly as it ate everything that was in sight.

So as its been a wet day  out with the colouring book and pens and of course the cuppa.
I hope I will be able to link up with friends for
T stands for Tuesday's over at

I took the colouring pages out of the book [The colouring studio]  to make them easier to handle .

This page in the book was by Dyan Reaveley

A few more words and a background added digitally.

Thank you for calling in to see me today you are all very welcome.
my scheduled post for the new challenge theme over at try it on Tuesdays will follow soon.

A little bird song.

A short scheduled post today, to share with you this hybrid page.

I have coloured a  page  from one of Stampinton
Magazines--The Colouring Studio.

I have to say this is a super colouring book and the paper is a good thickness. After the photo was loaded into the computer, I added some digital additions and a base layer.

Thank you for your visit today you are always welcome.

We are away in the caravan and internet is not always available. I will visit and catch up with you
all soon as I can..
I left a well stocked larder for my sons,
 who are  house sitting,
no doubt it will need replenishing on our return
