is the new challenge theme  at

 Try it on Tuesdays

I needed an anniversary card and decided to use  this pair of found relatives

  to represent the happy couple.

This was mounted onto a partially  embossed piece of card  that had been coloured and splashed with 

pale oxide inks.   The next  layer was stamped around the edges. It ended up being an 8 x 8 inch card.

a good job that it was being hand delivered.

I think you all know that  I also love to alter my makes in  a computer program.

This way I can store and  save versions of pieces that I have sent to friends.

You cannot help but notice that this involves a cuppa  close by.... .

Bleubeard and Elizabeths

When I work at the computer my cup is always on the left, out of harms way as I use the keyboard.

It does take a long while to create the computer versions,  I can quite easily pass a couple of hours on the same piece and go back later in the day after giving my eyes a rest. I have added  a picture of my cup stand as well, going back to the days when I used to  do cross stitch work as a way of relaxing after a day at work.

Finally here is the happy couple, picked out from the background of the card, you can still see a little of the original embossing  behind them. Then added to layers of papers and images so I can store them in my digital journal.

I have been asked about my hybrid journal pages and what the word means to me.

Well,  for me its using something I have made,

  as a hands on piece or project.

 This could be a complete piece or just the base layers  from one of my journals.

I use the photos I have taken of the piece in the digital program I work in [see my sidebar].

Altering and playing with the photos, adding extra details and images. 

Then, when I am happy with the result they are stored on my computer.

For me its all about having fun and creating  art.

Some days  I find it hard to grip a brush or cut with scissors, but I can still be creative. its amazing what  you can  produce using  a couple of fingers and the keyboard of my trusty computer.

I have used my 8 x 8 inch journal again.

It is quite thin paper and after painting  the page with  water colour paint it curled up so much that I decided  to  remember to use distress inks or oxides in future like the calf page  the other day.

I added the torn picture of the hedgehog,  and had used oxide inks on the edges, then another coat of water colour

round the edges.

I used letter stamps for the  title word and found a dictionary definition of hedgehog.

Photos taken, it was time for a few digital additions to be added.

A page this morning for

I am lucky to get passed old used  calendars  from friends who know I can  use them in other ways.. 

This one had some lovely country scenes and animals, just right for me to use for this page and theme .

I liked this calendar so much we bought the one for this year and it is hanging in my kitchen.

Isn't this calf sweet chewing on some tasty grass.

The background is  coloured with oxide inks.

I decided not to fussy cut the cow, so he was simply torn and stuck down.

I used a stencil  for some texture in the background.

On the left are some of the photos I took of the stages.

The words are computer generated and I couldn't resist adding the tiny ant.

Diary Day week 6

Friday is Diary Day,

This is week 6 of my weekly Journal Diary and we are in February already.

This is  the pre -decorated page in my Dylusions diary. All rather grey like the weather has been here recently.

I coloured the leaves and picked out one of my go to stencils to add more interest bringing it over onto  the plain side of the page.

I added a couple of stamped images and a word quote. They could be Dina Wakley stamps but I have long since lost the packaging.

Memories

Dogs capture our hearts and  stay in our memories forever.

I have used this napkin before in different ways, but it is one that I really enjoy using.

I have to say I felt much better after my  crafting session today, I needed time to be by myself.
  I had been thinking of our old Meg. we said goodbye to her,  this time last year. 

All our animals have been special to us over the years

 and I'm sure you  animal lovers out there will feel the same way about your animal friends.

Girls Night out and a T day outing.

New Year/ New Adventures, over at

The page began life with a  a little shading and a stencil of the girls , off  for a night out together. .

In fact all the background is a variety of stencils and distress ink  colours.

I used water colours for the girls dresses.

The second part of my post is to visit with friends over at 

Bleubeard and Elizabeths

where we are always made to feel very welcome with a drinks related post

We had a trip out last week to  North Shields, a fishing port  near the mouth of the River Tyne before it flows into the North Sea.

Tea day friends  will know we have been here before as is our favourite place for  Fish and Chips 

Today however, was to have a close look at the new sculpture  called

'Fiddlers Green',

that has been  placed as a memorial to the Lost Fishermen who sailed from the port  and sadly never returned

There is a piece here that I found on the internet that  relates to the work involved in its making. It also explains the legend of Fiddlers Green.

He sits and gazes out to sea in the first photo,  the second is  the view out to sea at Tynemouth.

The light kept changing as I waited for folk to move away, but I have to say I was  thinking that all the colour changes  were amazing and I'm sure through time as he gets weathered,  the metal will go on changing colour.  The sculpture has only been in position  since September 2017.

Yes, we did have our lunch out,  came home later that afternoon,

 a little windblown  and ready  to get our feet up and have a cuppa....

Tea as always was  my choice,  with a couple  of chocolate ginger cookies.

A good end to a good day out.

Creativity is good for the soul

A page for

 Art Journal Journey

and Erika's theme of New Year, New Adventures.

For me every page is an adventure, I maybe know what I will be using  as my main focus,  the rest just happens, as I get hands busy  and go with the flow.

My starting point was  a page from one of my [Stampington] colouring books.

  I did spend quite a while colouring this page and tried to get a reasonable photo over a few days, each one turned out quite pale, this was the best version.

However I am happy to say it was a good bright day when I took the the next stage  photos, she looked  a better colour.

There was a lot of fussy cutting done to get round this piece and you may notice that some of her hair  details  have gone missing in the cutting.

The journal page background is a Stencil still lurking on my desk from creating next weeks diary page which I shared in my previous post.
The colours I used at this stage are oxide inks,a stamp for the  Creativity quote. The other words were computer generated
