Tiger for AJJ

A  poem by William Blake  prompted me for this page in my 8 x 8 inch journal
I am really enjoying Rike's theme.... Animasl A to Z......  this month over at
 Art Journal Journey

This is a link to the Wikipedia page if you wanted to read the poem
and see Blake's original illustrated  printing
from 1794

The tiger is a stamp, but it is another that I have had a while and cannot remember the maker.
I used water colurs for the tiger and background.
Next I used a stencil and distress inks to add a little scenery.
A tiger definition  I found on the net and a paper scrap were added next.
In the digital program I use I was able to get an image of my tigers head to add as an extra detail.
The poem is computer generated.

Thank you for calling in to see me today you are always welcome here.

  2. That is such a great poem. And I love your tiger too-lounging in his jungle. They are such majestic animals for sure. Hope all is well, I am tired this morning and it is only Thursday! Hugs-Erika

  3. I had NO idea that poem was by William Blake. I've heard it for years, yet never knew the author. Your tiger is wonderful. You have super control of the watercolors. Great shading and wonderfully colored within the lines. If I'd been using the watercolors, it would not have looked like the majestic tiger, but more like a blob of orange in the grass. This is a fabulous entry and such a wonderful addition to Art Journal Journey today. Thanks for sharing it.

  4. Your pages is wonderful - the handmade oart itself is so beautiful and I love all the clever digital additions to it-
I searched now for a translation of that melancholic poem in German and it reminds me somehow of Rilke's Panther - even though this is melancholic in another way.
What a fantastic entry to the Animal month Yvonne!
Thank you very much for all your great inspiration and uniqe pages!

  6. You made a beautiful background for this majestic tiger in the foreground! I looked for a German translation of the poem, too hard for me to understand - but your tiger I like better than the illustration on wikipedia. Cool that you added digitally an image of your tigers head under the poem!
Thank you for joining us again at Art Journal Journey with such a great entry!
