T on Tuesday at Duxford IWM

Another week has flown over and I haven't managed to do half the things I had in mind.
Well tomorrow is always another day.
For this...... Tuesday T Day at
I have more photos from our visit to Cambridge to show you,.
This time I have grouped a few of  them together.

We visited the Imperial War Museum at Duxford.
This air base was built in 1917 and was the home of the American  78th Fighter Group, in WW11.

It is an amazing museum. I was fascinated by the planes they had hanging from the roof tops in the enormous hangers. Full size complete planes, imagine the weight and strength of the roof.
They had a French Concorde on the floor in another hanger, under the hanging planes.

We stopped for tea and had a grand view of the planes

Cheese and chive  scones with coffee for my OH [husband] and tea for me.
The down side was, that I am not a fan of paper cups and plates,
but it was a welcome break from all the walking.

There was lots to see outside as well

The shop was full of  tempting stuff for folk to buy,  I did resist as I thought it quite expensive.
I did manage to get a few photos

Thank you for stopping by on  T Day. and sharing a cuppa with me.

  1. Thanks for sharing all the lovely photos. Know what you mean about paper cups and plates etc! But those savoury scones look tasty! Nice mugs and pots, too. If you I ever see a teapot with 'Where there's coffee, there's hope', I'll buy it! Happy T Day, hugs, Valerie

  2. My hubby would love this museum. We always go to air related places when we travel anywhere there is one. I think your T and scone look very yummy and would taste great right now, especially if I could sit a bit and not go off to work. Have a wonderful T day Yvonne. Hugs-Erika

  5. What a fascinating museum. It looked quite large from the map, too. I can only imagine the size of the hangers, much less the strength of the roofs. The photos you took fascinated me, because I had to enlarge them to see them better. In a way, it reminds me of the Air and Space Museum in Washington DC, as well as the smaller air and space museum in a town about 50 miles from where I live. It was all so fascinating and reminded me how aircraft have shaped wars, past and present.

The teapots and mugs were adorable. I especially liked the poppy. I agree there is something wrong with drinking tea (or coffee) from a paper cup, but we are such a disposable society most people don't even notice.

Thanks for sharing this incredible museum and your drinks and scones (YUM) with us for T this Tuesday.

  6. Amazing views of the vintage planes, and love the old trucks too. the sign on the one van made me smile - about "tucking in." Was it a food van I suppose? your scones look delicious, and I imagine it was good to sit down a bit! thanks for taking us along, happy T day!

  7. What a cool place. We had a military museum at the local National Guard post up until a couple years ago. Sadly it was shut down due to lack of funding. I'm glad we got to see it before it closed.
    Happy T day!

  12. Pictures are great souvenirs and don't take up much space at all :-)
Great photos you shared of the museum.
Real life exhibits like that are always exciting.
Paper cups are not the greatest but miles better than styrofoam which sets my teeth on edge!
Hoping that gets outlawed everywhere soon.
Ooops sorry ... off my soap box to wish you a Happy T Day Yvonne

  17. I'm late to the T party but enjoyed your post. Museums are always fun to visit and their gift shops usually interesting - if expensive. Looks like a nice day out.
