Flying in for tea

These two mad witches have never learned to fly their brooms,
lucky for them  the geese are happy to take them to their destinations.
Oh.... the magic of Fairy Tales
There is still another week to join the fun at Try it on Tuesdays
with the current theme of..... I believe I can Fly.

Now I am off to visit with friends over at
where....

One of our favourite destinations [by car] is the small fishing town of North Shields at the mouth of the River Tyne

Most of the fishing boats were out when I took this photo,
even so there are not so many fishermen these days.

I found this  photo on a
 Google search,
showing how the Quay used to look

This is the view in the other direction up the river.
Within seconds the day changed and we had torrential rain

Time to get indoors  for our lunch.
The quay has many cafe's and restaurants these days. But this is always our first choice.
Why...........you may ask,
its not fancy place   and usually you have to queue to get in .

But how can we say no,
to a plate of delicious fish and chips. Crispy batter, bread and butter and  a pot of tea for me and coffee for my OH.

Thank you for calling in to share a cuppa with me today. I hope you enjoyed your visit.

  3. Witches on geese? I'll have to remember that and try it the next time my broom is broken, LOL! Your fish and chips look great. I like to order fish and chips occasionally when we dine out because it is something I never make at home.

    2. Hi Chrissie you can take a passenger ferry across the river between North and South Shields, it is a regular service and popular

  4. Your fairy tale imagination takes you to the most original places. At least the geese flew them in just in time for tea. Cute use for both challenges.

Some really interesting photos. Seems lots of people are on or near the water lately. Really nice photos of an area near you. So very different from where I live, so I really enjoyed it.

We Brits (well, I'm at least half Brit) really like our breaded fish and "real" chips, not the ones that come in bags, don't we? This looks like something I could sink my teeth into. Thanks for sharing your art, your photos of the water, and your fish and tea/coffee with us for T this Tuesday.

  5. Love your Mother Goose piece today Yvonne. You really caught the vintage essence from the story books I had as a kid. And I also love your photos. Its interesting to see how it changed from many years ago when fishing was a bigger industry. And do they serve mushy peas with the fish and chips in your area? My family think I'm nuts but I love mushy peas. Of course none of them eat peas at all so that might explain it. Have a great T day Hugs-Erika

    1. Yes they do supply mushy peas, but its not something I like, I much prefer the fresh variety.

  19. I love the idea of using a goose instead of a broom lol, it would be fun to try! Now I feel hungry too looking at the plate of fish & chips.....might add some mushy peas....I only eat them about once every couple of years. Will have to see if they do them when we stay in Wooler in a couple of weeks time:-)
