Post a memory for AJJ

There is still another few days  for the theme of
'Post....postage',  to run at Art Journal Journey.
One of the things I enjoy about this blog  is that I can  be myself, no pressure, go with the flow and have fun.
So another page to share, the base was a piece of paper pre-printed with post small cards,
this I gave a light covering with watered down gesso.
My usual bit of random stamping using whatever was lying on the desk at the time.
I had to use my all time favourite image of the vintage wedding couple [Queens Dresser Drawers].
Stencils and a bit of texture came next [Tim Holtz and Andy Skinner].
The postage stamps I had were modern ones and an old rubber stamp,
but hey, this is just my way of relaxing enjoying being creative.
I know I have some old ones somewhere, but why get stressed.
Now I must face having a bit of a tidy up  in my craft room, the desk is covered with clutter,
there is only a tiny space left to work in and I need to unearth the tweezers .
Very handy to hold the pieces ,when heat embossing, save burning the fingers.

Thank you for stopping by to see what I have been making.
I always appreciate the comments you leave for me.

A tiger in the woods.

Its the start of  Week  2  over at Try it on Tuesdays
The theme is --'Hot and Wild'.

Another journal page but this time I have opted for the Wild .
The base layers are stencilled  using crackle paste,  over acrylic paints.
The tiger, fussy cut leaves  and words are all Sheena Douglass stamps.
Extra shading was distress inks and water colours.

I think I would have to dream big,  if I came close to a tiger in the woods.

Thank you for taking time to stop by, I do so appreciate the comments you leave for me.

Write me a letter for AJJ

A digital  collage A4 size journal page for
July's theme is Post and Postage.
I used  mainly pieces  from the My  Craft Studio Programs,
together with images  I had stored on my computer.
Letter writing is becoming a thing of the past , with the ways we have to communicate
 with each other these days.
But nothing will ever take the place
of the letter the postman delivers and the anticipation of what will be found inside.
I am not talking about Bills or Junk Mail.,
it may be just a few words from a friend , or a card ,
but ,I am sure that these would brighten any ones day, if they  were to drop through our letter boxes.

Thank you for stopping by to see me, the comments you leave are always appreciated.

Out of Africa for TioT's.

Its
 'Hot and Wild'

This new theme   gives plenty of choice, Hot Colours or Wild Animals or both if you like.
Think of  places    Africa, India,   lions and tigers , hot colours,  oranges and reds,  etc. etc.
Please pop over to see what we have all been making.

This journal page has a base  coloured  with Brusho powders,
a good sprinkle of red,  green and yellow,
 then spritzed with water.
The blue was a mystery, but hey,  thats the fun of brusho's.
All the stamped images are Sheena's [Sheena Douglass].
The additional smudges were Black Soot distress ink.

Thank you for taking time to stop by. The comments you leave for me are always appreciated.

Mail Art

This is another one of my play pages with lots of random colour , painted, splashed, sprayed etc.
I think you get the idea and it was an inky messy play day.
Next up  came a couple of post cards, again an assorted selection of stamps,
but I could make out the maker of the arty woman with the letter box[ Stampington],
the Scribbly Bird is from a Dina Wakley set.
To add texture  out with the stencils,  here again it is hard to say the maker as most don't put it on the stencil and the packages have long since been thrown away.
When  these dried out I added some gold and silver gilding wax.

The prompt  at Journal 52
 week 28 was,' Mail Art',
I am a few weeks behind and well out of the prompt order,
but no one minds and we all enjoy sharing the pages.

I will also pop over and join the fun at
  Art Journal Journey
where the theme for July is Post and Postage.

Thank you for calling to see what I have been making.
Your comments are always appreciated.

Bossy....Who Me?

I have made many friends through crafting, one is a very special pen friend, who lives in a remote part of Scotland and as yet cannot get the internet. For many years we have set each other challenges and swapped ATC's  Fat pages and Tags.
I have to say we do send each other,  rather odd things, but we also have to use the same thing ourselves,
for the swap.

So what would you do with two wooden coffee stirrers?
To make a 4 x 4 inch Far Page.

The current Try It on Tuesdays  Challenge is -  'In the frame'
all the details are  here.
There are some fantastic entries so far, we hope you will join the fun if you can.

This was a good place to start,as the sticks could be snapped to make a frame,
painted with acrylic paint , heat embossed with a sprinkle of Frantage  Powder
and highlighted with gilding wax.
The base is coloured with old paper distress stains and I used Twisted Citron with the stencil.
Added scraps were found under and in the--' might come in useful box'.
The Stamped image is from a Dina Wakley set.

This is the other side of the page, same image, bits and pieces
and a bit of brusho powder on the background..

Thank you for taking time to  stop by, The comments you leave me are always appreciated.

Fly Little Letter

I have had a lovely inky, messy morning yesterday,  making this journal page for
July' theme is Post and Postage.
I didn't know how it would turn out and as the saying goes.....
'just go with the flow'.
I used a variety of colouring mediums, distress  ink,  brusho powder,  spray paint, to name a few.
Water colours for the rose.
Click the picture if you want a better view of the inky mess.
There is a variety of stamps used, most of them long since had the maker rubbed away.

Thank you for stopping by to see me, I appreciate always the comments you leave.

First class Post

A digital collage page for Art Journal Journey
The theme for July is...........' Post and Postage'.
All the images I used were on My  Craft Studio programs,
the background stamps , I  asked for free images on a Google search
and came up with quite a selection.

This mail might be going First Class, but I feel sorry for the poor tortoise
with all that weight on its back.

Thank you for calling by, I appreciate the comments you leave for me.

In the Frame for TioT's.

In the Frame...
is the new Challenge theme over at Try it on Tuesdays
There are many ways this can be interpreted, this is my version on a Journal Page.
I hope you will pop over to see what the team have all been making.

I started off by sticking a piece of embossed music score to the plain page.
Then  painted  this distress stains and acrylics.
Next up was a little random stamping followed by the stencils [Clarity] using one of the new colour distress inks-- Cracked pistachio.
My take on the the Frame theme was to add a strip of 'found' Photo Booth pictures,
and a 'found' relative framed in a Cabinet Card.[Tim Holtz]
There is a little gilding wax on these pieces, but hard to see on this photo.
Click the image and it may be a better view.
All the other additions are from my stash.

Thank you for stopping by to take a look, the comments you leave for me are always appreciated

A Post Card from Paris

I never thought I would find myself wishing for some cooler air.
We have been staying at Melrose in Scotland,
the heat and sun has been worthy of a continental holiday.
Even the fact,  that I was up  trying to keep Meg  comforted
during an horrific thunder and lightening storm the other night, hasn't spoilt the holiday.
Also we have had good internet reception
and even better been able to watch some super  Tennis matches on TV.

On the 1st July Valerie and Susi announced the new theme for the month at
'Post and Postage'.
What did I have with me that might fit this theme.
So I am not sending you a card from Scotland, its from Paris instead.
Lots of layered assorted distress ink  colours, some stencils Paris [Sheena ]
Burlap [Tim Holtz] a small piece of embossed music
The stamps are Runaway [Tim Holtz] and the postage ones can be anybodies guess, it was pure luck they were in the bottom of the box.
If you click the picture it will be enlarged and show up more of the background texture etc..

I will also be joining the challenge  at............
the new  theme there is,
Destinations
Tim's distress inks as well as his stamps were used on this page, including my all time favourite of Vintage Photo, new colours Cracked Pistachio  and twisted Citron.

Thank you for taking time to stop by, I do so appreciate the comments you leave for me.

Happy Holidays

'Happy Holidays',  is the new challenge theme chosen for us
Its holiday time so whether you love the seaside or a city break,
we would love to see your holiday inspired projects.
Please pop over for all the details.

A layered mixed media card from me for this theme. The base was embossed, painted over with blue acrylic paint [a mixture of a few shades]. Then I rubbed it over with white DecoArt antiquing cream on a piece of scrunched up paper tissue.

Next the stencil of the beach Huts [Sheena Douglas]

I used  a variety of  Distress inks for this stage.
Then on to add some texture, sorry but I have no photos for the next few stages. All gone off on their holidays, as I think I accidently  deleted them from the camera.

So fast forward, I added some sun rays using texture paste and for the ripples on the sea. Messy fingers for this stage and an old plastic store card.
I added a little silver texture gold for highlights.
All the  Bathing Belle images are Crafty Individuals stamps.  Other items were from my stash.

I hope you will all be enjoying some sun shine on your holidays this year.
Thank you for taking time to stop by. I always appreciate the comments you leave for me.
