The return of the mousetrap

Out of a Hat Creations set a Challenge a while ago  to alter a Mousetrap. At the time  I couldn't find a trap anywhere, the shops I went to only sold the humane ones and were shocked that I wanted to buy the 'old fashioned' type. I managed to track one down  as the girls had by then promised  to hold another challenge at a later date.

I made this a few weeks ago so it would be  ready for
'The Return of the Mousetrap'.

First of all I painted the whole trap with acrylics, took a piece of the mechanism off to make space to  for my mouse image, which is part of a  larger  La Blanche stamp.

I added scraps of muslin, putting them behind the cuttings from Graphics 45 papers.

A piece of the discarded metal became the hook to hang it up.

To finish  my altering and make it  useful,  I covered a small  ' post it',  note  pad with  a pretty paper, this is placed  under the spring .

All the shading is Antique Linen and vintage photo distress inks.

Thank you for stopping by to take a look. Your comments are always appreciated.

  1. I never thought I'd say that a mousetrap was "cute", but it IS! I love it!

  4. I love it! Saw a mousetrap notepad somewhere recently & the idea tickled me, it did not however have a mouse on it...
We have traps, but use them for the real thing unlike a guy I was chatting to last week who uses the humane variety which he then places in a backpack, cycles to work 3 miles away & releases his mouse !!!!! I think think your way of using a mousetrap is way more fun :-D

  19. I agree with Val about better to find a note pad rather than a squished mouse. This is truly amazing I absolutely adore how you did this. The images are fabulous and I love the non-squished mouse !
